Over the years I’ve used hundreds of different mousse products with predictable disappointing results. I have very fine as well as thin hair that will flatten out within an hour due to the weight of the product. Not this time!!! At this price, I tried it due to the description...figuring it would be same as usual. Not at all—my hair is fuller, shinier and feels amazing to the touch. I will soon be 70, and my hair is thinning silver hair. I used this on my bangs and the front sides of my hair, applying it generously to the roots as it said -- and then some. I dried it, and WOW, my hair, which used to lay flat after drying, was raised from the roots and stayed together, looking like much thicker hair. I love EVERYTHING about this product! After doing some research, reading millions of reviews, I decided to give this mousse a try. I am so glad I did! I have fine hair, and it always looks flat. Finally I feel like I have full head of hair!! Thank you John Frieda!! It doesn’t stiffen the hair. It leaves it very nice, voluminous and manageable. Love it!4/18/21 EDIT: I’m sad and mad to report that this mousse went flat after few weeks :(. Now it just comes out liquid out of the bottle, no matter how much I shake it. I changed the rating to one star. I really did enjoy it while it was doing its job! Now it’s too late to return it. At this point, I would not recommend this product because you’ll lose your money. I have fine hair that is difficult to hold a style without the right hairspray. John Frieda Luxurious Volume had been my go to for years. It held a style without being sticky and could be brushed out easily. Alas, that is no more.The first thing I noticed is they have changed the shape of the spray applicator, not a huge deal, but you will notice it gets clogged easier and no amount of hot water or alcohol will produce a fine spray.One can I had just stopped spraying all together. I ended up throwing it away... it was half full! When you are able to get it out of the can, It coats your hair like shellac, and is impossible to brush out without GREAT pain!Unless they go back to the old formula, don't waste your money. I have used just about every product for fine hair to get volume there is - this is absolutely the BEST I've found! I have used very pricey stuff, cheap stuff, whatever would promise to do it and none of it worked. At best you would get a little volume but it would be gone in an hour. This smells fresh, you don't have use a lot, it doesn't seem to build up and it holds. I have baby fine hair but a lot of it so the weight of it pulls it down. Right now it is about shoulder length. Just a heads up I am 68, my hair is silver & white and still as fine and soft as it's always been so I'm not new to the game. Amazing stuff!Update August 2021For whatever reason now the last time I ordered it's coming out the cans as liquid - no matter how much I shake it. So as much as I loved it at first now it is unusable. I read this same thing happening on another review here, maybe the product is old? I don't know but now I guess I will look for another brand. I have used this product for years and love it. But my recent purchases have been disappointing to say the least. I used it and right away something was different. The product seems watered down. Normally I spray it in my hair and let it set a few minutes. It gets a little "crunchy" which is the way it should. The bottles that I just bought don't do that. My hair doesn't get any volume at all. My opinion is that it has been altered somewhere😒. No i will not purchase this again from this site. I will buy it from a drug store and pay more but at least I will get the full product and not some watered down junk. Read more

this stuff is wonderful. let me start by saying I have the flattest hair ever and this did the trick I'm guessing as good as or better than anything professional I've tried for volume. let me tell you a little more:-it can seem kind of crispy when you're drying your hair at first. it will not make it greasy or oily, but it kind of feels like there's hairspray in your roots or something a little crunchy. it also made my hair a little more coarse at the front where I applied more.-this is a good thing!! the hair needs to have a more coarse texture to have more volume, as soft silky hair is generally not as volumous.-once you style (I used heat for curls/waves) the coarse or crispy-ness will not be visible or look strange.-you kind of have to do some fluffing/tousling to get the volume to what you like. it helped me to blow dry completely upside down and I got the look I really wanted which is more volume at the roots-use liberally!! it may feel weird but use more rather than less!!good luck ladies and hope it works for you!
