THE GOOD: The mirror itself is as expected, and I like that the arm can be positioned so everything is flush against the wall when not in use.THE BAD: Knocked off stars because the provided wall anchors are ENORMOUS and the installation instructions do not tell you how big to drill the pilot holes. We had to try 3 different sizes before we got it right, and because we’d rather start too small than too large. It ended up being 5/16” or something along those lines. On top of that, the provided top anchor broke and refused to stay in the wall, although we had no issues with the bottom anchor. What should have been a 5-minute installation at most ended up being 15 minutes of wrestling with getting the screw out before we could also yank out the anchor. We were lucky we already had a kit of anchors and corresponding screws, one of which ended up fixing this issue.Shout out to IKEA for the anchors that actually worked.Shout out to my awesome boyfriend who is the real “we” in my review because I just stood in the corner of our bathroom watching him struggle while his burrito got cold because I said this would be “really quick.” Read more

Like many other items like this (towel rack for instance), the issue is that they use sheet-rock plugs and you bolt the item to the plug. Sheet rock is hardly a sturdy substance, especially when you drill in to it. (The plugs slowly pull out over time.) This mirror has pretty substance weight to it, which would make going into the sheet rock even worse. If you can't get it into a stud, I wouldn't bother using their hardware to install it.If you have access to the wall behind it, you can bolt a plate to the backside and just use a nut/bolt to keep it rock solid. If you don't have access to the back side, you can use an expanding drywall anchor. Hammer it in similar to the anchors they provide you, but when you screw it in, the backside expands to be about 2-3in wide. Only way that is pulling out is take half the wall with you! Read more

I've actually bought this mirror twice now. My wife won't go without one. We first saw these (or something similar) in a very nice hotel. I found this one on Amazon and installed by her sink in our bathroom. Several years later when we sold the house she removed the mirror and repaired the wall and took her mirror to our new house. Fast forward a few years and we moved again. Only this time, there had been some wallpaper behind where it had been mounted and the repair was not as straightforward, so she remounted her mirror and left it for the new owners. At our newest home, she HATED not having her mirror, so I bought one at our local big box home improvement stores. It looked the same, but the quality wasn't as good. I bought a different one, but it still wasn't as good. Thankfully, Amazon keeps track of your orders and I was able to find where I'd ordered this mirror a long time ago and ordered another one. She's very happy. These are a great value. Highly recommend. Your wife will like it. Read more

Very high quality. Mounted in minutes. Much nicer looking than any of the LED or CFL bulb versions. All of the lit versions I have seen don't really add any light... the light is just for show and necessitates time consuming wires, batteries and / or switches, which can all fail and all add bulk. Simpler is better IMO. Bought two with different finishes for different bathrooms and love them both. Read more

I am redoing my bathroom in a rustic wood barrel, old wood look. I needed a swing out mirror so that I can see what I am doing when applying eye makeup. This mirror comes in a lovely brownish, sort of woody looking color option, quite antique and handsome. It was very easy to install (I did it myself) and of very sturdy construction. The mirror is on an articulating arm and swivels, so it be adjusted for any person's height. One side of the mirror is magnifying, the other is regular. I am really glad I bought it, and highly recommend it. Read more

This is a great product. I actually purchased 2 of them and have one in each bathroom. I use it a LOT. I especially like that I can pull it out far enough to look in the mirror and see the back of my head in my bathroom mirror when I'm doing my hair. Read more

I was excited to receive this mirror; having used similar models at most major hotels for years, it was time to add one to the house. There are a few problems with this mirror that are worth noting:- The mirror arms and hinge aren't perpendicular to the base of the mirror, so if you mount the mirror so that the underplate is true and plumb, your mirror will tilt down slightly. Upon closer inspection, the lower half of the hinge is a full 1/4" off-center from the base. It was obviously manufactured this way.- The capped nuts that hold the mirror to the underplate aren't deep enough, so when you tighten them all the way down, there's a good 1/8" of a gap between the nut and the mirror base. This results in the mirror wobbling, as the nut can't put enough pressure on the base to hold it secure. I had to use chromeplated #8 nuts under the cap to act as a shim.- The underplate is significantly smaller than the base of the mirror assembly, so keep that in mind when you're drilling holes to mount/place the underplate. If you set the underplate flush against something (like trim), the mirror will not fit cleanly over the underplate - it will hit the trim/corner/etc.- The mirror feels very cheap; it fingerprints like crazyI'm not sure I would recommend this to friends. Love it! Returned a lighted mirror with 10x magnification and 3x more expensive for this less expensive one which does the trick (and matches my ORB door/sink/cabinet fixtures. Avoid any wall mount mirror that is 10x magnification, image is soooo distorted, made me dizzy. I have plenty of light in my bathroom so don’t need a lighted mirror (this may not be for you if you need light). Read more

The mirror itself seems of decent quality, but there’s where the positives end. If you are really thinking of buying this mirror, then do yourself a favour and throw away the included drywall anchor. This anchor has no lip and will just be pushed back when inserting and tightening the screw. Buy a E-Z ancor for easy installation. Also, the swing arm is installed off centre and one has to compensate for this sloppy assembly, otherwise the swing arm will not be level. Read more

Choose the mirror for what you want it for, in this case, shaving. Therefore choose reasonable magnification, here 5X, and biggest economical mirror, here 8in or 200mm. Then set up lighting using simple and often cheap reading lights so that you can see clearly what you are doing, eg shaving or makeup. The units supplied with inbuilt lights are simply not bright enough, and can't be upgraded by changing the bulb, and reduce the size of reflective mirror. Read more
