Very dim with a 25 watt E12 Edison style incandescent light bulb. I ordered a 6 watt LED E12 bulb for it and it still isn’t bright enough, just ordered a 15 watt LED E12 and we’ll see if that fixes the problem. Had to use washers to shim the mounting nuts otherwise if flexed when mounted to the wall. Had to bend the bracket that holds the bulb to fit the larger LED. I see a dark spot so I will open it back up and bend it some more. It is way way brighter now with this 12 watt e12 LED at 6000kelvin. I posted a picture of the bulbs I tried, the one it came with, the 6watt LED and finally the 12 watt led.After my wife used this for a week or so I realized the large LED bulb may be a problem. The mirror actually rotates around the bulb, the bulb does not spin with it. So I had to bend the bracket the bulb is mounted to even more to make the largest led bulb work. I purchased a battery powered mirror here on Amazon because I didn't think I would like a corded one, but promptly returned it as the light did not work. After researching many wall-mounted lighted mirrors, I decided to give this one a try mainly because the price was not outrageous and it had all the features I was looking for. I was hesitant to order based on the negative reviews, however I am SO GLAD I bought this one! I really love this mirror! The light and magnification (5x) is perfect for me (Good Lord, I don't think I would want the 8x or 10x - YIKES!) The 5x mag side is great for doing eye makeup or finding that stray hair :0 It came with all the hardware for mounting and my husband installed it in under 10 minutes (I think like 5 minutes really!)... (it took me longer than that to figure out where I wanted it, height, etc.) I also like the 8" diameter, I don't think I would want anything smaller.The light is perfectly bright, and I agree with another reviewer that if it was any brighter it would probably create a glare. (I know the light doesn't look that bright in the pics I uploaded, but trust me, when your face is in front of it, it is PLENTY bright!) Both sides of the mirror have great clarity with no distortion at all! The mirror fogs a little while I shower, however, by the time I'm done washing my face and moisturizing, the fog clears up without needing to wipe it. It extends from the wall so I do not have to lean forward while putting makeup on, then folds up when not in use.The only thing that is a slight bit of a drawback is that the lights get a bit hot, but I can deal with that as the light is only on while I do my makeup. I would highly recommend this mirror to anyone looking for one that extends from the wall and has a light. ** EDITED 5/2/17 to add pictures of the the bulb I purchased to replace original bulb.It's a 'Great Value" brand, candelabra base.The cabin we rented while on vacation had one of these (this exact one, I thought!), and I just loved it. The lighting was bright, and made applying makeup SO much easier than straining to see in the bathroom mirror. When I returned home, I searched Amazon and found this mirror. While it was a bit more expensive than I thought it should be, I ordered it anyway, because I loved the one in the cabin. When it arrived and my husband hung the mirror, I was very pleased with how easy it was to hang, and how nice the mirror looked, as well as moved and swiveled with ease - which is the only reason I gave it two stars, as opposed to one. However, I am EXTREMELY disappointed in how dim the lighting is!! Only one side of the mirror has a slot for a bulb, and it absolutely needs two. I even removed the bulb that came with the mirror, and installed an LED bulb, and while it does light better, it's still nowhere near what it should be. It really maddens me to have spent that much money for what amounts to another mirror with very little light. I'm also disappointed to have put my faith and confidence in this company. I researched a lighted mirror for the wife for days. I ended up choosing this one. It's well built, has smooth arm operation and the optics are quality. For the money none are better. I know a bunch of people complain about how bright the light is. I gotta admit, it could be brighter. Just simply replace the bulb with an LED and you are all set. I found this one, comes in a 6 pack and is a direct replacement, but much brighter. 2 small screws, remove the front mirror and screw it in. My husband hard wired the mirror just beside my makeup table - The only thing I had to do was getting a stronger light bulb - it was way too low but other than that great. Seeing how much easier it is to put on makeup I wish I would have chosen a little larger mirror. Read more

My wife loves this light. The finish is very clean and great looking. We have had it installed for 6 months now, and just love it. It had been banged and hit but has held up really well. The arm is still stiff and holds in place like it should. A lot of people complain about the light not being bright enough, just take out the bulb and put in a higher wattage LED light.
