I experimented and put this over non-bleached medium brown hair (about level 5), couldn't find very many other people who used it that way, so I was nervous. But I got a really cool mauve-eggplant kind of color that I absolutely loved. It's been almost two months and it's faded pretty much back to brown, with just a tiny hint of purple. Very happy with this stuff, since most colors like this don't do great on non-bleached hair. Next time I will go for pre-bleaching (I've done it before, just didn't want to this time) for a more vibrant color, but if you want something subtle you can use this. :) Read more

The color is a very deep blue. My hair was fading teal from a dye job I had 3 months ago and I had a bit of roots. I put this on and it developed in 30 minutes. Came out beautifully. I dyed the roots 15 minutes into the rest of the time. Fabulous. I like this way more then Garniers Dark blue dye because this looks deeply blue. But Garniers Dark blue comes out jet black! So if you were wanting to lean toward Lilac, this is NOT the item for you. That being said, it DID turn my hair a lovely color, it is definitely a PURPLE but it's not as Orchid (which I felt was a slightly reddish lilac) as I anticipated. I dyed my level 9 hair with flamingo, which was supposed to be a soft pink. It came out neon pink. After 4 washes, the color had barely faded...I guess this is good if you like the neon pink. After 8 washes in 3 days, it was a more tolerable pink. I then made the mistake of wearing a baseball cap while doing yard work. The sun bleached what wasn't covered by the hat, so now I have a short pixie cut with a permanent baseball cap, at least until It washes out completely. Read more
