I have been using ion for about a year now and tend to stay with a blue base for my own preferences. This is a dark blue. Think Grover from sesame street, and it does wash out, but pretty slowly. My hair being as it is tends to loose the dye in its tips first and it gives me a really rad sort of fade but I achieved that with copious amounts of bleach and some self inflicted damage to my ends.... that being said, my roots are a really dark brown and this dye will covers that for at least ten washes with no real issues (after about ten washes I want to re-amp the color anyway so it works out) Read more

Dyed over my bright bleached blonde hair was going for a Dark grey, even with a 30 developer this looks like black box dye almost. I'd either attempt medium charcoal, or find something else. This aint it if for dark grey. This is black. Read more

This is my third time having red hair, and this time I've had the red hair for about a year and a half now. This dark red blonde shows up properly red on my hair and always looks good. I'm naturally a very dark blonde, but applied this over hair that had been bleached over black box dye. When I first did this, the shades were a little uneven because there was still some black in the hair, but it actually looked very nice and now is a beautiful and even color. Every month I do my roots, and every 2-3 months I do a full-head application. I only wash my hair once a week, so the color is crazy vibrant for about 3 days, then fades into a gorgeous tone. I've tried tons of red hair dyes and this is by far my favorite, plus it's easy to mix and apply. I use a 20 vol developer. Some comparisons for you! I am enjoying my blue hair and I actually bought this to correct/cover up my roots from a prior dye/experiment. It did exactly what I needed it do. Smells decent, shiny. I used a 20v developer but this time I'm going to try a 30v, cut the time a little to compensate. Don’t use this mushroom blonde. The 8mb looked like a level 6 auburn. Not sure how, but I’ve seen others report the same. Go to a salon or at least get a different manufacturer or order at least two shades lighter than you want! Read more

I was hoping that this would tone my orangeish hair. I left it on for 30 minutes with a 20 developer and it did nothing. There was absolutely no change to my hair. I'm kind of confused because I feel like it should have done something other than damage my hair and make it smell gross. I'm very disappointed. Read more

I was expecting black cherry and got kind of an odd orange chocolate thing going on. I tried a second application and it didn't make anything darker than brown. Cherry chocolate at best. Definitely nothing black about it. Might be nice to show a color strip. If it's a brown tone you're looking for then this IS a good quality product, with good pigment and good coverage. So it's not ALL bad. Read more
