I have had this blow dryer for 1 year 4 months and 26 days...today I laid this sucker to rest....It went out in a blaze of glory...and I mean that. Thankfully all of my hair is still on my head and I did not suffer any injuries when my blow dryer took its last breath...of fire. This thing started on fire! It made a God awful screaming noise, which should have been my queue to turn the sucker off but noooooo....I used it...I used it through the smoke smell....and the scream...and then...FIRE..I turned it off when the smoke came billowing out and a small fire could be seen in the back of the dryer. Needless to say...I am looking for an upgrade...until then, I will have wet and weirdly frizzy hair. This dryer was used nearly every single day I owned it, 513days It was used, it has traveled overseas, across state lines, I have used it under the influence, and on days I didn't really want to use it at all, hence the 5 stars. For everything it gave it was good, until it wasn't, I could be bald right now..but the scream was a warning. I bought this Conair Ion Shine dryer specifically to use with the xtava Black Orchid diffuser (also purchased on Amazon), after reading online that it fits this dryer. I was able to pop the diffuser on after removing the diffuser’s inner ring, though it’s a snug fit and took a little effort!I ordered the dryer in the glossy orange color, since that was the cheapest option ($22) and had Prime shipping. I wish there were more color options to choose from (black would be nice), though I do prefer this glossy finish to the “soft touch” versions since I find that the matte finish always ends up peeling off.The dryer came in a box with warranty information, directions/safety manual, an attachment that directs airflow for straightening, and a diffuser. I likely won’t use the attachments; you can see in the photo I included how much smaller and flatter the included diffuser is compared to the xtava.The dryer has 3 heat settings: cool, warm, and hot; and 2 speed settings: low and high. It also has a cool shot button. I find that in reality the cool shot button is more like room temperature, and the other settings are just varying levels of heat. It’s pretty lightweight without feeling cheap, and I like that the filter is removable. It does have a slight plastic-y smell when running that I hope will go away with repeated use.To diffuse my fine 2b wavy hair, I style it in the shower by scrunching with gel (aka, the “scrunch out the crunch” or SOTC method). After plopping in a t-shirt for 5 minutes and scrunching out some excess water, I use this dryer with the xtava diffuser on "cool" heat and low speed. They're pretty easy to switch between with one hand while drying. It dries fully in about 15-20 minutes, compared to 3 hours when I air dry. Then, I scrunch out the hard gel cast to reveal the waves.Overall, the dryer has served its purpose over the last couple months, and fit the diffuser. I have been a fan of CONAIR for many years and have faithfully used their products. I carefully read all the reviews positive/negative and hopefully I can glean a true picture of the product. With that said...Does this Hair dryer work....Yes. Is it reasonably Priced...YesNow for my concerns....Most Hair dryers do not have cords that are 60 Inches (5 Ft) in length. I measured 2 previous hair dryers they they both had lengths of 100 inches or more, that is over 8 Feet! I called 2 friends and had them measure their dryer cords with the same results (8 Ft or more). Next is the noise level, This dryers seems to be extremely loud. I'm not looking for whisper quiet only what is reasonable, but honestly it sounds like a high pitched jet engine going off in my ear. Last but not least...I found it did not dry my hair any faster than a normal dryer. My hair looked and performed the same. Will I return, of course not. I will keep on hand on a second dryer or give away to Good Will. I will continue to look for a Hair Dryer with better Performance and definitely a longer cord! Read more

This hair dryer is amazing!!! A few months ago I used my cousin's dyson hair dryer. It was fabulous and dried my thick, long hair in record time. I thought I was doomed to forever be disappointed in hair dryers because there is no way I could/would spend that much money on a dyson. I searched for comparable hair dryers and this one was the only one on the list that was financially friendly. First time I used Conair's hair dryer, I was literally blown away! There is so much power in this lightweight, easy to hold hairdryer. It dries my hair so much faster than any other hair dryer I have ever owned and in a similar time frame as the dyson. The only drawback to this hair dryer is that it is a smidge loud. However, the tradeoff is quickly dried hair, so I am more than okay with the noise level. Read more

Wow this hair dyer is no joke! This thing blows air like a hurricane! lol I couldn't even use the highest setting, the low was high enough for me. Don't be fooled like me into thinking, oh pretty colors, sleek looking etc. must be good.....Yeah this was a big nope for me. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and used it twice but it still wasn't working for me. It actually made my thick hair thin, but not in a good way. It definitely does NOT get hot, but depending on some they might appreciate that, but for me I would prefer much hotter air. At this highest speed setting, this was measured with a professionally calibrated decibel meter at a maximum of 121 decibels (with an average of 108 decibels) at the mouth of the dryer. This is alarmingly loud for something that is held in such close proximity to your head. According the the World Health Organization and the CDC, exposure at 113 decibels for 1 MINUTE is enough to cause damage. I can't use this dryer without ear plugs, which is absolutely ridiculous. I bought this in May but didn't really use it until the beginning of June. I don't use hair dryers often and was just looking for something to use for a couple of minutes here and there. So I was quite surprised to realize that the *second* time I used it, the fan wouldn't run, so the hair dryer would heat up but no air would flow out of the dryer, and its body would just get extremely hot (to the point of almost burning my hands). So, if you are looking for a reliable product that will last more than a single use, stay away from this product and Conair in general. Because, yes, I got in touch with them to get the product fixed replaced. And it was only downhill from there:When I realized my hair dryer was defective, it was two days too late (of course!) for me to return it to amazon, so I had to deal with Conair customer service, which I sincerely do not recommend. Their customer service over the phone is really bad (the person talking to me was just plain rude, even if I was very polite to them), and I had to pay out of my own pocket to send the broken hair dryer (still under warranty) to Ontario. I never heard back from them. After sending several emails and not getting any response, I called customer service again and the person I talked to this time was much nicer. They offered to send me a replacement, only in a different colour (which I accepted, because I just wanted to get something, *anything*, for the approx. $58 total I'd spend buying it on amazon + shipping fees to customer service in Ontario). I finally got a working hair dryer almost two months (!) after mailing the defective one to Conair. Only to realize, too late, that the replacement wasn't exactly the same product as the original (it's not just a different colour; it's a different quality: the materials on this one look a lot cheaper and an online research suggests it's indeed a different product, possibly an older version of the same model). I no longer want to pay out of pocket to mail defective/incorrect products back to Conair, so I left it at that and basically paid $58 to end up with a $20-quality hair dryer. Read more

Je possédais seulement un séchoir de voyage avec celui-là. Je cherchais quelque chose d'abordable (je suis étudiante), mais de performant. Je savais que la collection Infiniti Pro de Conair était bonne, puisque mon ancienne coiffeuse utilisait cette collection. Ce séchoir sèche tout en très peu de temps, très pratique pour moi qui possède des cheveux longs et épais. De plus, le diffuseur est d'une grandeur parfaite (ni trop petit, ni gigantesque). L'embout de précision est parfait également pour styliser ses cheveux avec une brosse ronde. Bref, très bon rapport qualité/prix. Solid design and manufacturing. Also functions very well for my needs. Separate heat and blower functions. Plus the handy cool-shot button works very well. That cool-shot button is placed high on the handle so it is a little awkward to reach but I suppose it’s just a question of getting used to it.
