I have been using Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior for many years and I was so excited to find it on Amazon for fast delivery as my bottle had just run out. I can't describe the disappointment when I got the perfume, I know it was wrong just by looking at the bottle - the color was off (much lighter than the original) and the material felt different to the touch. And then the fragrance was completely off from the original, still a sweet fragrance but more like coconut and not quite as intense. Product that came was completely unacceptable and honestly seems counterfeited. Bottle is candy red, there was red liquid on the nozzle when opened, and the coating around the nozzle immediately started to chip off upon opening. Scent is weaker than usual. I’ve worn Hypnotic Poison off/on for about 20 years, and while the scent seems to have been reformulated over the years (as many perfumes are, unfortunately) this is real and smells like the recent version of it. Also, I checked the batch code and it was verified as authentic and fresh. I purchased it directly from Amazon and I currently have no regrets! This is one of the most unique vanilla scents ever created. It smells a little like - root beer! It also smells like anise and vanilla with a bit of warm almond, jasmine and musk thrown in. It sounds strange but it’s delicious and intriguing! It’s one of my all-time favorite perfumes that both men and women love. It’s a great Fall/Winter scent, but I wear it year round. I’ve seen reviewers in the past that have mentioned this perfume as being their Halloween scent, and I can see why, as it has a certain sweet darkness to it. Give it a try if you haven’t! Read more

I have worn this fragrance since it came out and just love it, but this is the first time I did not order directly from Macy's. When the bottle arrived, the top gold starting flaking right off and the scent is very different from my Macy's purchased Hypnotic Poison. (The gold top of my two year old Poison bottle (same size and style) is still completely in tact despite traveling many places). The wrapping on the outside was thicker than usual and missing the top sticker. The scent does not last more than an hour. This is not anywhere close to the original scent of the actual product. This is a popular perfume, but I had never smelled it. I've never been into perfume until recently. I purchased this thinking I'd like it or love it based on all the good reviews I've seen, and the description of it's vanilla and other notes. If I didn't like it, I could sell it or give it to a relative.I received the box and right away I noticed the cellophane was opened and re-glued on the bottom. It had white glue smeared inside the plastic. I contacted Amazon and they sent me a replacement the following week. The box looked better, however it was also re-sealed, just not as messy as the first. I noticed the bar codes had been cut out on both boxes and covered with a sticker code. I've heard of this happening. I decided to try it anyway, because a lot of online perfume stores sell "grey market" perfumes and they are usually just as good as a more expensive store. The thing I noticed with Amazon perfumes has been mostly getting older perfumes, which may not be as fresh as if you were to buy it in a department store. I have no problem with getting older bottles as long as they didn't spoil.I tried the perfume, and was disappointed. It didn't smell sweet like I was hoping. It had a licorice scent, which I don't mind, but also a smoky scent (it's supposed to be incense). It was more like tobacco on me. I tried to wash it off, and that only made it worse. It made my skin smell like burning rubber. I think the soap reacted with it. Later, I tried it again and this time it smelled a little better, but the tobacco smell kept coming out. I saw a few reviews that stated this perfume was masculine and smoky. I should have listened to those reviews, but who knew I'd have the same experience. What I really should've done was try this in a store before buying, but I wasn't able to do that at the time I was buying. Many hours after wearing it, a nice smell came through, but it wasn't worth the smoke smell for all that time.This perfume had foreign writing on the box. I'm not familiar with this so I searched online and learned that some grey market scents come from other countries. It may be authentic and real perfume, but I have a problem with the idea that my perfume travelled to other countries, were opened and re-sealed along the way. Years ago, my husband and I were walking through a department store when we were both stopped in our tracks by the most seductive, delectable fragrance either of us had ever smelled. Turned out a sales associate had just spritzed a fragrance card for another customer as we walked past the perfume counter. My husband bought a bottle on the spot and it has become one of two fragrances I have worn since.It's lovely when you've been married long enough that each asks the other what they'd like for their anniversary (or Christmas, birthday, Ground Hog Day...). This is the real Dior Hypnotic Poison, I was a little skeptical about reading a few negative reviews, but since most were positive I decided to try it. I have been wearing it for years. This is my 4th bottle. It lasts long for an Eau de Toilette. I have never found anything really close. I am very pleased. It is getting harder to find the larger size:( Read more

Do not buy!!!! I smelt this perfume on a colleague at work really liked it. So I purchased this in 2015 since after the first useit is still sitting on my table. The smell is so annoyingly strong like some chemical mix. Very dissapointed!!! Will never trust this seller again. Read more

If you can it's worth paying a bit extra for the dark bottle and avoiding the red one if it's the dark your used to.
