I use these in my public school library to hold books, and I haven't had any problems with them at all--no chipping, no cracking, and great for bringing some color to the library. The only problem that I have is the dimensions--while these bins are 8 inches across AT THE TOP, they taper down the sides and are only about 5 1/2 inches across at the base. We use these in our tot tutors toy storage rack. The set came with multi colored bins but we wanted some more subdued colors for our playroom. The white complements the gray well. The bins are sturdy and great for organizing toys. We put all sorts of things inside them from cars to masks to balls. So these are perfect, aside from the red one coming cracked. It's not huge and I can live with it because I'm not that anal about things especially since I'm using these in a closet, however if i decide to use any for my kids stuff I won't be able to use that one as I don't want them to get hurt playing with them. It is a bit sharp where it's broken. This could just be from shipping but who knows. I do hope they wouldn't send it out that way. See photos. Otherwise they are great bins and perfect size. I've been on an organization spree trying to get all my kids and my own stuff cleaned sorted and organized nice and neat. These were in sale for a cheaper price which is why I got them. These storage bins are a great value. You get 4 for just under $8 (for the smaller size bins), plus free shipping. I had been looking for bins this size that didn't include lids, not as easy as you might think. The closest I found were about the same size, but cost around $8 for only one bin. So these are a real deal, and seem very sturdy. If you're looking for something with a lid, these won't fit the bill, plus they're only available in bright primary colors. These tubs are the perfect size whether for a toy rack/ shelf already setup or even if needing floor level organization.The plastic is very sturdy and my son hasn't been able to break any yet by standing on them. He's nearing 30 lbs and though they probably shouldn't be used as a step-stool, try telling him that!The generous lip on the outside makes it easier for little chubby hands (or adults) to lift the bins in and out of the organizers or shelves and take them from place to place to play. The solid bottom makes it easy to slide across the floor or shelf or even just while playing. They don't snag on any surface so far! (like sometimes happens with wooden boxes on carpet).The bright colors are easy for the toddler to differentiate and recognize for organization as well as just adding primary/ basic colors to the otherwise basic color scheme in their play room (mostly wood).
