The positive: These tools work great for scraping and collecting specimens. The scraper parts of the tool have a good sharpness to them, allowing them to collect thin material. Out of the box, the tools seem very durable. So why the low rating? Rust, rust and more rust. After one wash these tools are rusting. There are rust spots all over the tools. This is concerning because this seems to indicate that these are not stainless steel tools. Because of this, I am now concerned about contamination of the specimens and the possibility that heavy metals were used to make these tools. Read more

I ordered the "HTS 154P1 4 Pc" and they are exactly what I was looking for - a set of a few tools to make my Halloween costume, mostly using cotton and liquid latex. They came in a plastic sleeve, and contrary to what another reviewer wrote, mine were in perfect condition with no jagged edges. Also, I've washed mine a few times and they are not rusting like another reviewer mentioned. I really like the fact that the middle part is knurled so they're still easy to hold onto if your hands are wet. Three of the 4 are double sided so you have 7 different ends. They are very good quality and the thick center bars with the etched texture for grip is a very important feature to have, other wise the tool would keep turning around in you fingers when you try to use it. For me and my intended uses, however, they are too stiff. The spatula ends have no flex, but I have been having an impossible time finding tools that look just like this with flexible ends.
