I rarely write reviews, but after the last 30 minutes of torture I just endured using this product for the first time, I felt compelled to write one. I'll just do a bullet point list of my grievances against this awful excuse for a straightener.* The plate dimensions suck- I have no clue what hair type would be ideal for this design. It's short and fat (which is never a plus in any scenario) but if you have medium-length, thick, wavy hair like me, this is a no-go. I don't even think someone with short, thinner, less-wavy hair would find this straightener helpful.* It's a pain in the butt to grip onto and spending 30 minutes attempting to use it make my hand feel like it's permanently curled up. I'm going to do hand stretches after typing this.* The buttons to increase the temp and turn on/ off end up in finger placement range, so no bueno. I accidentally held down the temp increase button without realizing it and fried off some baby hairs.* Due to the shape/ design, it's hard to get close to your roots. I really struggled there.* Normally it takes me no more than 15 minutes to thoroughly straighten my hair (sectioning it off and doing layer by layer), so that fact that it took me double the amount of time with this thing means it just sucks.It does get hot, though, so there's a plus. But be careful with the buttons- the burning hair smell isn't pleasing to the nose. I'm just glad I didn't throw away the box today because I will for SURE be returning it. Fantastic. I bought this product after seeing Michelle Obama's stylist recommended it. We all saw Mrs. Obama's hair during the 2021 inauguration. Her hair stylist was in high demand, and there were so many questions about her tools and products. She said that this one was one of her favorites. She (the stylist) should receive a royalty check because many people flocked to get this product after that endorsement on Twitter.I now use this as my go-to iron, instead of the Chi iron, and I love it! see i like this straightener but it pulls out your hair really hard. i have really thick hair so i dont have to really worry but for really thin hair this is a no! lets just say it gets the job done but its not enjoyable. Read more
I’ve used Hot Tools for years and years and I’ve always felt it was a good brand. I don’t know what is going on with this flat iron. It wouldn’t do anything when it was turned on but give an error message on the display. No heat whatsoever, so I returned it. I noticed another VERY similar review. Does this same broken iron keep getting shipped out? Read more
I have had this flat iron for a few months now, it is a great iron...when it can stay on. It turns off about every 1/2 minutes or so which makes using it a complete hassle. I have tried holding it every way imaginable and it still always turns off. At this price point an issue like this is unacceptable I think you’re better off with one from the drug store. Read more
