I loved this iron for years and then I went to use it last night and it burnt/singed my hair off!! Same heat setting as usual and was using it like I always do. This took a little getting used to but I wanted to try this brand because it was used on me at the salon with positive results. My normal curling iron is a 1" Babyliss so I wanted to try the larger barrel Hot Tools in a 1.5". Heats quickly and evenly and I have no damage or pulling of my hair. It's not as slippery smooth as the surface of my Babyliss but I got used to it very quickly.I'll post a photo showing the results from each size for anyone wondering like I was: taken a couple days apart, 1.5" on left and 1" on right. The 2" barrel gave me the exact waves I was looking for. I'm not very good at styling my hair, especially with curling irons!! However, I watched a quick tutorial on using an iron, and this one delivered exactly what I expected with my limited skills, and was easy to use after I got the hang of it! This is the perfect size and price point for my needs. I wanted a curling wand, but couldn’t find one in this price range/width that had temperature control, so I bought this and removed the clamp (fairly easily with pliers and a screwdriver), and it’s perfect. I actually had people ask if the curls I created with this were natural, or if I got a perm. Being able to keep the heat below 350°F is super important to me, and this iron makes it very easy. Because picking the right size barrel is extremely hard, I want to share a picture to show the result of using a 2 inch curling iron. As you can see, you get a blow dry effect with very loose curls at the end. The gold plate makes hair shinny and smooth, but it sort of weighs hair down just a bit more than the ceramic barrels. Have to revise my original review...iron doesn't get hot unless turned way up and is now causing damage to my hair. Too late to return, so in the trash it goes! Don't waste your money!***I was worried at first when I read the reviews about the iron burning people's hair off. However, I decided to chance it and give it a try since there were so many other positive reviews. I'm glad I did. So far I love this iron. As long as you keep it at the right temperature for your hair type and test the heat before using, you shouldn't have an issues. I noticed that the temperature dial can be easily bumped up to a higher temp if you're​ not careful, but knowing that just makes me pay attention to the heat. I use this at the 300° temp setting and it puts beautiful, big waves in my fine, color-treated hair. Read more

AWFUL! I used this product for a year but not all that often. Maybe a couple of times per month. I curled 2 pieces of my hair and it worked normal and then on the third piece, I wrapped the hair and started to smell something burning. Fumes were coming off the curling iron. I got the hair out from the iron but it was too late. I lost that entire piece of hair. The curling iron scorched my hair and then what wasn’t stuck to the iron was burnt all the way up my hair close to my ear. It literally fell out and tiny disintegrated pieces in the sink. I was devastated. Tried to contact the company via email. Zero response. No product on the market should have the ability to do this to your hair. I would stay far away from this curling iron.
