It smells like stale baby powder.This seems like a great product that anyone of all ages and genders can use, so why did they make it smell like something only 40+ women would be inclined to use? Just make it as neutral smelling as possible, so the much better smelling shampoos and colognes/perfumes can mask it. This product has a terrible pseudo-floral/baby powder smell that I'd be embarrassed about if anyone caught me with it. I found this product through a Buzzfeed article for those with frizzy hair and THIS PRODUCT DID NOT DISAPPOINT PEOPLE! I put this serum through the ringer; I got this to stand up to Bay Area fog AND the nasty, humid heat wave we got a couple weeks ago. No frizz, no extra curls. Nothing! On top of that, it made my hair super glossy. I'm very impressed. Heads up though, a little goes a long way. One pump is enough to cover my hair and I have medium length hair. Can you tell which side of my hair has serum and which side does not? Yup, very noticeable. I've been using this hair serum for about 4 years now and I love it. My hair is naturally fizzy, but this hair serum keeps it under control looking shiny, silky and feeling softer than baby skin. It has a beautiful, yet soft smell to it. It makes me feel like the Little Mermaid underwater with her beautiful red hair flowing around except my hair flows around gracefully in the air (if that makes any sense lol) As you can see in my picture it's safe to use on bleached/dyed hair. My hair is thick and long so I divide my hair into 2 parts and use 3 small pumps of hair serum on each side (a little goes a LONG way!). Just be sure to not put too much or it'll turn out oily. This is probably the best hair product I've ever used! I have baby-fine, wavy hair that's prone to frizz at the slightest hint of humidity in the air. Most products are to heavy for my hair, making it limp and greasy. This product gives me just the right amount of 'sleek' without looking like I need a good hair washing! Combined with soft twist rollers, I can achieve anything from a very soft wave to lots of curls without using a curling iron or flat iron, which causes way too much damage to my type of hair when used regularly. I love this stuff! This is part of my hair routine every time I style my hair. I have thick, frizzy hair that tends to soak up styling products. With this product a little bit goes a long way, the first bottle lasted me 5 months. I was walking through the mall one day and a woman who worked at a kiosk approached me, and handed me a Herstyler Hair Serum sample. It wasn't until weeks later that I actually used it and when I tell you the results were not only unexpected but AMAZING! that same day I went to the mall and I showed the woman the sample packaging and told her that I NEED to buy whatever product it was IMMEDIATELY, she showed me what is was and told me it was a staggering $75.00, now normally I never buy anything for my hair (aside from weave) that is that much money but because of the the results and the wonderful fragrance I figured it was worth itNow fast forward, I'm going on vacation to Miami and I couldn't wait to bring the Herstyler products I've accumulated over the course of a few months, I arrive at the airport (the products are in my carry on) so I'm at the area where the airport people check my bag and tell me that I cannot bring the products on the plane... I LITERALLY cried and my boyfriend told me don't worry he will buy it again for me (not knowing one item was $75.00) anyways, I decided to just take a loss and re buy it when I had the money.SO MONTHS LATER I had the money to reinvest into this AMAZING PRODUCT and guess what??? My hair was always wavy but now in my "50's" my hair is very curly...Ladies. I read all the reviews on this serum and thought I'd give it a try. Without a doubt the best serum I have used (along with one other product for curly hair). My curls are soft, no frizz and I don't have to use three, or four products, which would leave my hair curly but not soft looking. Love the product, the bummer is it is in a glass bottle and using anything glass in the bathroom is always taking a chance you don't bang it on the hard surface of the sink or drop it when your hands are slippery. My first bottle hit a hard surface on day two and the bottle broke. I loved it enough that I immediately ordered another one and this time I put it back in the box so I don't break it again. Hello,I suffer from very dry and weak hair. I have been looking for a ''natural'' product that I could use daily and leave in so it would moisturize and make my hair look better in the long term.I came across this product searching for moisturizers and different oils. On the Amazon listing, it only talked about Aloe Leaf Extract, Argan oil and and Vitamin E.Aloe Leaf Extract and Argan oil happens to be at the bottom of the list of ingredients (which means they are not in high quantity) and I can't even find Vitamin E among the list. This review is not about the effectiveness of the product as I didn't try it but rather how the listing is dishonest and doesn't mention anything about the 3 first ingredients. You can zoom on the Amazon picture with the hair serum packaging and notice how the ingredient list is also different from the product I receive. (The formula might have changed) As I said, I was looking for a ''natural'' product. The first ingredients are : Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Dimethicone, which are basically all silicons. Although silicons are GENERALLY safe, they still have a risk degree for humans and have documented risk for the environment.Like so many of the chemicals in personal care products, Cyclopentasiloxane has been generally considered safe—particularly in rinse-off products like conditioners. But research from Canada in 2008 raised concerns about cyclotetrasiloxane (also called D4) and its sister chemical, “cyclopentasiloxane” (also called D5). Some studies has shown that there are sometimes traces of D4 in products containing D5. The European Union also classifies D4 as an endocrine (hormone) disruptor, based on evidence that it interferes with human hormone function, and may impair human fertility.According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), the government in Canada declared these two chemicals potentially toxic around January 2009. At that time, the government had serious concerns about the hazards of the chemicals, and prioritized them for action to ensure exposures were safe for people and the environment. Firstly, the main negative with this is the fact that you HAVE to buy the product in a two pack - why it can't be split and sold separately is in my view, a con.I wish I'd reviewed other brands before buying this. Reviews I've read do seem to be raving about it, but I actually think my hair might be worse with this product. I have fine mid length hair. I colour it every five weeks and have some highlights. I wash it every other day. I use a dyson hairdryer and I use appropriate shampoo and conditioner. I suffer from frizz, but if I straighten my hair it's fine. I wanted a product I could put on my hair so that I could dry it and it would naturally be smooth. The serum is very fragrant (I don't like the smell at all, but it doesn't seem to leave a strong smell on the hair when it's dry). I used two pumps on my hair (although other reviews I have read said that they used only one - apparently if you use more your hair can look greasy - I didn't suffer with that with two pumps), dried it in my usual fashion and it was no different - in fact, the frizz might have actually been worse. I am so disappointed, particularly now that I'm left with a barely used product and a completely untouched one and I'm £35 down....Today, I used the Tresemme Heat Defence Protection spray and my hair is much smoother than with Herstyler. I think it would only work if you already have perfect, hydrated and non-frizzy hair.My hair isn't completely unhealthy but it is prone to frizziness. I have 2B hair and I was hoping this serum would help define my waves/curls. It didn't really do much at all. It made my hair feel a little bit softer, but it doesn't appear any more shiny or smoother.I think this product probably has too many silicones ( my fault for not scrutinizing the ingredients list enough), and I think this has been damaging my hair by making it more dehydrated, and in turn making me think I need more of the product to reduce the frizz.
