When I was a child some 15 years ago, I noticed this was a brand that my aunt, who lived with me at the time, used frequently. My mother used different brands of products in my hair, so as I got older, I just kept using the brands that I was introduced to by my mother.Although, this brand was pretty much readily available for purchase at most stores I visited, I never tried it, until recently when I was looking for a new shampoo and conditioner for badly damaged hair. All of a sudden my hair started breaking and falling from the back of my head and I realized that something was either wrong with my health or the hair products that I was using (mixed chics).I became so distressed about the situation (so worried and anxious that I was crying). After I recollected myself and regained composure, I formulated my plan of action. First, I considered changing hair care products to see if it made a difference. Second, I considered seeking a physician's opinion if I saw no difference after changing hair care products.I came across herbal essences in my searching and remembered that my aunt used to use it as I stated earlier and with it the fond memories of her. So I decided to give the birch bark (because I like the smell and taste of birch) sulfate free biorenew shampoo and conditioner a try. I was a little scared and even a bit skeptical about whether it would help my situation.My expectations were very much exceeded in both a shocking and spectacular manner. The hair at the back of my head went from being quite wispy and hay like in texture (so brittle and weak that it was falling out from merely passing my hand through my hair, literally on the verge of balding), to soft, smooth and luscious. When I brushed my hair I noticed less of it in the brush and when I went to sleep at night, in the morning my pillow wasn't covered in broken strands of hair.I know that the version of this product is for color treated hair but it has performed a miracle on my hair; while my hair isn't color treated, it has been chemically treated before though, so perhaps it's also good for that. While I'm still going to see a physician eventually just because it's good to get a check up at least once a year, I feel so relieved about my situation though. It's also nice that everytime I use the product, I'm reminded of my wonderful aunt.Definitely recommend trying this brand, not only did it solve my hair dilemma, it seems that it's a pretty eco conscious, sustainable and trustworthy brand. This product had great reviews and saw advertisements everywhere. I have oily hair with some dandruff and only use sulfate free products. . Recently I learnt that my shampoo containes dmdm ingredirnt and is undergoing a lawsuit. Had to toss it and read what other shampoos have in their ingredients list. Tossed them all. Went online to find the healthiest option for my family and budget friendly. People were saying the smell is so strong - barely felt any.People say it smells like men cologne - not at all.People say it washes very bad and stays in hair and doesn't give clean feeling - I found it foams a lot, so you need to take a small amount, and it will wash off well.People say it straps the hair, gives a dry feeling - use the matching conditioner. That "dry" feeling after shampoo tells me I washed it off well, after I use conditioner it feels soft and silky. Really like this, so does the hubby and kiddo. I loved this the first wash....then the shampoo built up so bad on my hair. This causes extreme build up and caused my hair to look and feel extremely greasy. I DO NOT recommend this at all. This is the worst shampoo and conditioner I have ever used due to the horrible build up. I have an extra set of these from my Amazon order and I won't be using them. Read more

I wanted to try this shampoo & conditioner since it was sulfate & paraben free but less expensive than other brands that offer this. I'm so glad I did bc my hair & my daughter's hair has never felt healthier! I have very short hair but she has hair to her butt & its bleached blonde so we needed something good for our hair. The smell is honestly really nice, despite what other people here say, my hair is not greasy after usage. My girlfriend and I both have thick hair however, so the issue with greasy hair might be linked with how thick your hair actually is. It leaves my hair feeling soft for the whole day which is crazy for me, considering no other shampoo or conditioner had done this for me. Overall great product. Read more
