*UPDATE* This product sent me to the ER. Almost 2 weeks later and im still suffering from damage to my stomach. I havent been able to eat right. Im so afraid ive done permanent damage to my digestive system. PLEASE just buy Gelantinzed powder or AVOID maca altogether if you have a lot of food allergies....This product isnt for everyone. BEWARE. I drank this with almond milk, started having sharp intense stomach pain ( i mean so sharp i was on the floor whincing) and then eventually threw it all up. Hate to leave a review like this cause i know everyone body is different but it must be known to all to try w caution. I took the recommended serving (10grams) and this is what happened to me. I bought the Black Maca and Spirulina powder for my dad, who has lost his appetite and isn't getting enough nutrients. The flavor is similar to chocolate or cocoa flavored. A teaspoon mixed in a drink or dusted on a dessert allows us to add nutrition to his diet. Read more
I've never had Maca before so I don't have a comparison.However, this product smells very fresh. It smells like a root (also kinda like doritos lol).It mixes well in smoothies & that's all I've done with it. I haven't taken it long enough to notice any difference.The only thing I wish I had known prior to buying is that maca is part of the cruciferous vegetable family. It's related to broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, etc. I have a hard time digesting these vegetables and maca is no different. After putting it in my smoothie I experienced some bloating and gas. nothing crazy but it was a tad uncomfortable. To no fault of the company or product. Just my dumb insides.Anyway, I really like this company. They give back to the people of Lima so all in all I'm fine with my purchase. Read more
