I love my Haakaa! This was a godsend when I was engorged after my second daughter was born. I essentially was an exclusive pumper with my first and know my way around a Medela Pump In Style. I was shocked the first time I used this and it pulled 4 ounces off of one side in 7 min or less while my daughter nursed on the other side. I don’t know if my Pump In Style ever got that much milk that quickly. A word of caution, if you are engorged or have over supply, only use this once per day or only take off 1 ounce at a time for comfort if using it with every feeding. Product is just as described. Only thing I’d complain on is that it takes a few tries to get good suction because I have small breasts (34A), it’s tailered more towards larger breasts I think. Otherwise it’s great and it helps me collect the runoff from the other breast I am not nursing on. I collect ~1 oz each feeding. So glad it isn’t going to waste! I have not used the product yet, since it's still not the time till my LO is born in a few weeks. But I want to give it a shot, rather than using my medela electrical pump. The electrical pump is a hassle, since there's a lot of parts to rinse. Once, this product is necessary, I will update my post.Update : I have been recently pumping milk with the Haakaa and it has been very useful and helpful. The am also using my Medela pump which has made my nipples very sore and irritated. The Haakaa pump prevents nipple soreness and it allows more milk flow to be released from the breast. I purchased this item after receiving a Haakaa as a gift from a friend, and LOVING it!! I wanted to have a second one on hand, so I wasn’t cleaning the same one constantly. Well... I was MAJORLY disappointed! Apparently, when you purchase this item, you are randomly given one of two styles/generations of Haakaa. The one I received is an older model, and does NOT work as well as the newer model I received from my friend. The newer model has a ring around the top that aids in suction and hold. The item I received (apparently an older model) does not have that ring, and FREQUENTLY falls off or is difficult to suction from the start. And, worse yet, sometimes it will become loose at the bottom, resulting in lost breast milk (in other words, totally defeating its purpose.) I have major double letdown and the Haakaa captures all that precious spillover from the non-feeding breast. It suctions on well and gives just enough gentle pressure to encourage a little letdown without actively draining the breast. I love it so much I actually bought two for when my baby is sleeping longer than usual and I need to let a little pressure off without doing a full pump.It was invaluable when my little was having a hard time latching. I'd suction the Haakaa onto the other breast to bring on a quicker letdown so he wouldn't give up. Also great for filling supplemental bottles without having to pump.It's one piece and easy to clean. I wash with a silicone bottle brush and then microwave in a steamer bag. It has gotten a little cloudy with repeated washings and sterilizing, but still functions perfectly. Pay the extra couple dollars for the version with the suction cup--it's very helpful when you take it off to know that you're less likely to lose your milk to spillage. Read more

I've heard many good reviews about this and that it's a must have. However, it did not meet my expectations at all. I pump during the day and nurse baby at night. I am also considered an overproducer so any product that would save me money and time I would love to try. Unfortunately no matter what I did, I could not get a good suction. I have a manual hand pump, a double side electric pump and recently an offbrand milk catcher.This original haakaa is by far the best at efficiency, ease of use, ease of cleaning, sterilising and storage.I used it from day one when my baby was not able to latch.Now that i rejoined work at six months, I use this to collect milk to feed baby when I’m away.The hand pump is tedious to use.The double side electric pump is ridiculous to clean.The offbrand milk catcher that cost less money is made of thin silicone And doesn’t extract milk as efficiently.Go for the haakaa before trying the others because it’s practically no effort to stick it on the other side.Learn to use it via a YouTube tutorial.I immediately transfer to a bottle. I’ve heard such great things about the haakaa but unfortunately it didn’t work for me (I was only able to express very little) I think it totally depends on the person and how much milk you produce.
