I gave it two stars because it sort of fit the description. There is a light on the mirror, tho I'd not call it intense. The real problem is you don't need the mirror lit up at all. You need your mouth lit up. To do that you could redesign it so that the light pointed away from the mirror and into your mouth. I think the best bet would be to light up the other instruments so you can see what it is you are doing in your mouth. Read more

These are great to have around if you need to check something out before doing an emergency trip to the dentist or for just inspecting your own brushing handy work. But unfortunately, the one I bought about 15 years ago is a better design mainly do to it having an LED bulb shining at your teeth like a flashlight. This version uses the bulb to illuminate the clear plastic mirror surround, which isn't quite as bright. If I had looked more closely at these in the picture before ordering I probably would have passed. Read more

I'm not really sure what I expected, I'd not tried any home dentistry before, but 2020 had cleaning appointments hard to schedule and I thought I'd give it a try to avoid a scolding at my months late appointment. The two tools do not actually accomplish much. If you put pressure on the tool, it bends/flexes, which does not allow you to apply enough pressure to scrape anything off. Maybe it's designed that way, I mean should we be doing this at home? I suppose the pick may be useful for a stuck seed (I'd rather use floss) or one of those tiny recessed reset buttons. I won't be using them, but I gave it 3 stars because I like the mirror. Read more

This product is basically a toy, not real tools to clean teeth. The “scaler” is so thick and wide, it could never fit between teeth to scrape plaque. You have seen your dental hygienist’s scaler, right? It’s a very fine, thin hook that can get between teeth and gently scrape off buildup and stains. This is nothing like that whatsoever. And the other tool in this package is just a toothpick! The label even says the “explorer” is for dislodging food from between teeth. Seriously, that’s it? Completely useless.I didn’t even open the package, I am returning it. Read more

I have a bridge on my bottom teeth that I can never get completely clean. Even brushing and flossing daily didn’t cut it. These picks and the mirror make it easy to see the places I missed. Now the dental hygienist won’t fuss at me anymore... Read more

OK, so I bought the whole thing but only really wanted the mirror. And the mirror is great. The light works well and so far the mirror has not fogged. I can see everything I think I would ever want to see in my mouth and it's also great for seeing around corners. The tools also seem to be of good quality and I'm sure I will eventually find something to pick at or scrape. Highly recommended and I would buy it again. And yes, lightening fast delivery. These are super well designed and the build quality is fantastic; there's a little rubber section that lets the tool have some give, which is good, because the metal doesn't bend at all - that said, as much as that's a good thing on paper, it might be not so good if you're like me and have a bunch of half-missing teeth. These are very hard to fit between your teeth, and even harder to get into super tight spaces like, say, cavities or the vacuous chasms where crowns that you never got are supposed to go: partially because of the thickness, partially because the metal really has no give at all; and because of that, these tend to get lodged into my mouth, getting stucl (which is always fun)I'm still giving these 5 stars because they're incredibly well made, and I love me a good, quality tool, but if your teeth are swish cheese like mine and are looking for something to really get in there, I might recommend something else - perhaps some nylon dental picks, or one of those dental pick sets that come with all sorts'a sizes and shapes if you want metal \m/I love GUM, and these will probably last you a lifetime, but for my purposes, that unfortunately happens to be a downside. The instruments have nice "grippy" non-slip handles. The lighted mirror illuminates the entire mouth and the way it is positioned you can even see lighted areas even behind your back most teeth. The learning curve is short and takes about 10 seconds to realize that you can aim the light and mirror at the tooth and see it perfectly. I don't understand the silly reviews about people complaining that the mirror should not be lighted and the light should be aimed away from the mirror. The mirror lights and shines onto the tooth you want to see - you look in the mirror and see the lighted tooth. You might need an IQ above room temperature to figure this out. Read more
