FYI, this item contains about 43 yards per package. Another item (purple pack) contains 33 yards. Both are made by Sunstar/GUM and are labeled "expanding floss." I am prone to shredding my floss and I hate this stuff. I should have thought better about the expanding quality of this floss. I am way more likely to shred this floss than any other floss I've ever used. At first, this floss was ok. I was trying to give it a fair shot.Then this morning, I shredded this floss so badly that it got stuck in and around my tooth and stayed there in a clump. Shredding floss in your teeth is an inconvenience, but you pick it out and move on with your life. The way this stuff shredded and felt like it was wrapped around my tooth, I actually panicked for a brief moment. I had to tug so hard to get the floss out that my tooth actually hurts from pulling on it. Thank goodness I won't be upset about throwing away the $2 I spent on this. Never again! Read more

This floss really cleans and removes tough material from between teeth. It has a texture that is really great. If you like Glide - this is *not* for you. I don't find that glide actually cleans between my teeth. So I can understand why others don't care for this floss. It is abrasive, which is what I want.I would compare this to Listerine "woven" floss. But this is a bit easier to get between your teeth and I still think it cleans better. Read more

If you are looking for a good brushing-between-your-teeth experience, AND YOU ARE NOT A FLOSS-SHREDDER, this is a great floss. there is another floss on Amazon that is better, but it is twice+ the price. this is a great everyday floss IF YOU AREN'T A FLOSS SHREDDER. i found one other "value" one (so far) that i also recommend highly. my teeth are NOT closely set, and the non-shred non-break tape-types (and plackers) do not remove any gunk. 1. It only "fluffs" when it gets wet from saliva. If you don't floss on the same section over and over there is no benefit.2. If you maintain any tension at all on the floss it remains very thin, defeating the purpose.I have totally lost respect for the GUM brand as a result of buying this. This used to be "Butler GUM" but now it's "Sunstar GUM" and i suspect they have been bought by a company cynically trying to profit from the reputation that this company used to have for making serious oral hygene products. I have been a fan of woven floss that is gentle of the gums and has better contact with the teeth, but it is hard to find right now (I think because of complaints of persons with non-smooth fillings that it gets stuck). This is a new favorite and I plan to continue using it. If you have smooth teeth (between teeth) it is much better than standard plastic floss, both for wiping stuff from the teeth and being gentle on gums. Read more

Too thin for me. I used to use Oral B’s woven floss so I am used to that. I purchased this after reading a review saying that it was the next best floss to that but I disagree. It’s very thin and I do not feel that it cleans well between the gums. Read more

I am a regular user of the Gum expanding dental floss which I have previously bought at the drug store. I was surprised that I was not getting the same quality with these. I found these thinner and easier to shred in your teeth. I compared the packaging and printing on the dispenser and found the printing style to be different on the back side from the ones from the drug store. Are these the standard ones sold in the drug store or are these irregular ones or possibly an attempted knock off? I have only used one out of the six so far so I can’t say that they are all like that . I have to say that I was disappointed. Read more

Seriously, this is some terrible stuff. For those of you looking for a more economical version of Listerine's Ultraclean stretchy floss, this is NOT it. It has NO elasticity at all -- don't believe the reviews/reviewers who indicate that it stretches. It does not.Basically, it looks like standard floss and is supposed to 'open' once it's between the teeth, but it just shredded repeatedly. I found it unusable.Go with something else. I thought I’d try this ‘expanding floss’ as I’d never heard of anything like it before. It’s really neat as it actually does expand when it goes between your teeth- there’s a thin wax layer that melts when it mixes with your saliva this allows for the floss to cover more of the area between your teeth and honestly gets more plaque and debris out. Very cool! I wouldn’t be surprised if more floss use this technology in the future as it’s such a major improvement over the traditional floss. Will buy again! Read more

There was an expanding weave floss on the market with pre-measured lengths that we used to use. For whatever reason, it is no longer being manufactured and we've looked high and low for something that would give us a similar experience. We don't care for waxed but we wanted something that slid easily between teeth while also grabbing particles in the spaces of the teeth, and this floss seems to fit the bill quite well. It's not 100% what I'm expecting, thus the 4-star rating, but I suspect this could simply be a matter of getting used to it. Read more
