Sure, these shampoo bars appeared to be badass, but how actually badass are they? After my first use, my fiancé told me I smelled like a candle. I said, “Yeah, a grizzly bear’s candle. Macho Man Randy Savage’s dining room candle. A candle made from porterhouse steaks and Cuban cigars. Okay, maybe not the last one, but you get my point!” She just doesn’t get it.But seriously, I love these bars. As a first time “shampoo bar” user, I don’t know how I could use anything else going forward. The bars create so much foamy soap. Like, a lot. I was a bit skeptical of shampoo bars before this but I'm a certified fan now. I purchased the variety pack and rotate between the three. At first, I just wanted to try each of the scents, but I've found I like each of the different scents for different reasons. I use the mint when I'm shaving in the morning. It is refreshing and I actually like shaving with the lather from the mint bar better than the shaving soap I had been using. I keep the chill out in my gym bag to use after my evening workouts and the cedarwood scent for weekends. My girlfriend LOVES the cedarwood so much she started using it too. I got these for my honey to try out and the first thing he said was after coming out of the shower was that he was surprised how CLEAN his hair felt and that he how much liked how they all smelled. (Which was exciting since he's super picky about everything) his favorite being Last call. He also found the packaging entertaining.I personally like them as well, finding my hair more manageable then the bottle shampoos and find the scents pleasant and not at all overwhelming. We like natural stuff around here & are no strangers to the smells that go along with it, but WOW. This stuff stinks & it stinks strong!My husband had apparently opened his first bar & put it in the bathroom and our youngest walks out and asks what the medicine smell in there was. He’s very sensitive to smells, so it could have been anything & I didn’t think much of it. Then I used the bathroom later & it smelled strongly of I-didn’t-know-what. Investigation led me to this shampoo. Eew.I ordered the lemongrass one thinking that it would be nice... the essential oils are listed as cedarwood, patchouli, pine, cassia, and clove... you might notice that lemongrass is not even amongst them, and what is listed makes it smell like the overpoweringly woodsy smell that you might expect. I can’t even imagine what the bar that actually says it smells like cedarwood is like.I was finally prompted to write this review after hugging my husband this morning and smelling what I thought was a houseplant that’s got knocked over. My husband was like, “maybe it’s my shampoo?”... sniffed his hair... yup.People will dig this, I get it. But it’s not our cup of tea and when I ordered it, I was expecting a light citrusy smell, not an overpoweringly hippie smell.It works fine, but I’ll be sending our unopened bars to the thrift store and going back to our previous brand. Our family made a news year's resolution to replace a few of our single-use plastic items in our home... shampoo was one of our targets. I bought this for my husband and 13 year old son. My husband works outside and sweats all day, and my son is very active and plays sports. Frankly, by the end of the day/practice they smell terrible. I ordered this soap to replace their 3 in 1 bottled men's shampoo which smells like cheap cologne that just tries to cover bad smells. They both like this soap. My son has eczema, and this soap doesn't seem to dry out his skin or cause flare-ups like the others. We all really like the smell... It's pretty strong at first, but wears off and becomes more subtle. The smell isn't fake, I think that's what I like most about it. You can just tell it's not some artificial fragrance made in a lab. It's unique, I can see how it's not for everyone... but I really appreciate how genuine and real the fragrance is. Read more

I was turned on to this product by a friend mainly for the 3 in 1 capability (head, body and beard/face wash) and that it is made with all-natural ingredients. I used it at home for a couple of weeks and was impressed with how it made my skin and hair feel.- It did not feel like I had a thin film of chemicals on my skin which was my biggest issue with other all in one products. It makes my skin and hair feel smooth and healthy.- The scent is mild but really does have a noticeable uplifting and awakening effect on your mood when used in the morning.- Lathers surprisingly well and one bar lasts about 3-4 weeks as a daily shampoo and body wash.- I decided to take this bar on a trip to Europe as my primary shampoo/soap and it worked really well for my travels! I took it in a small zip lock bag in my toiletry case and it was super nice to have an all in one soap that I didn't have to worry about breaking open and making a mess.
