The idea was suggested to my family to have children perform a "cake smash" photography session for their first birthday. Upon looking on Amazon's website we found plenty that mentioned a cake smash theme, but later research showed that there is no such thing and it's just a title that retailers put onto clothes so people might buy them.These clothes are just standard birthday outfits, and in terms of quality or function they are just the same as anything else you might buy. Cute set for 1st birthday. Onesie itself is true-to-size and good quality for the price, but the suspenders were HUGE and i could not get them to shorten enough to stay on. Had to ditch them for our 1yr birthday photos. The shorts are ok cotton play shorts but not dressy/fancy - would not recommend for a professional photoshoot look, but good enough for wearing to daycare on a 1st birthday or use the onesie with carter's or target suspender pants (usually available at Easter time) Read more

I purchased this for a 1st birthday party. I purchased it in size 18 months based on reviews. I washed the bottoms and onsie before use (as I do with pretty much any clothing item). This was a mistake. Both pieces shrunk. In addition, the bottoms are made of a sweatshirt type material. The bow tie is not removable and was ruined in the wash. I would not recommend this product.
