My mother wets the bed every single night since she had a stroke, not matter how much or how little liquid she's had during the day. We were using disposable pads but those still sometimes leaked, moved around, weren't very large, and just felt wasteful. I bought two types of these large underpads on Amazon, one of them being the Gorilla Grip ones.There are many pros for these underpads. They are absorbent -- my mother's sheets haven't been wet even as she leaked enough to soak through her shirt all the way up her back. The little rubber gripping dots on the back do seem to keep the pad in place, although I will admit, my mother doesn't move around very much. But they don't slide up as she's adjusting herself as she gets into bed at night. The top is soft enough, although I wouldn't call it plush. They are thin and not at all bulky, so they'd be great to use under or on top of sheets.However, 85% of the time when I wash them, I can't get the urine smell out of them. I have tried everything: washing them immediately after I take them off the bed in the morning, 4-5 different types of detergents, adding baking soda to the wash, adding vinegar to the wash, adding Odor Blaster OxyClean to the wash, adding Lysol Fabric Sanitizer, using Tide fabric sanitizing spray before the wash. I've tried the bulky load (I know with HE washers, there's sometimes not enough water to get things as clean as with the old machines), the heavy duty mode. There is no rhyme or reason to what gets rid of the smell and what doesn't. I can wash them 2 or 3 times in a row and the smell is still there. It's a craps shoot, honestly. The only thing I haven't tried is regular bleach because I believe the washing instructions said to only use non-chlorine bleach. It's just a little frustrating because I want them to smell clean (the urine smell comes out of her clothes) and I feel like I'm wasting a lot of water experimenting on how to get rid of the lingering smell.The only plus to doing all of this washing is that I can say that these have held up VERY well thus far in the wash, hahaha.So, in summary, these do the job they're supposed to do: they absorb liquid very well, they aren't bulky, they seem to stay put, they survive washing well. But, for whatever reason the urine smell lingers on them, at least in my case.If anyone has any tried and true tips for getting rid of that smell, or if anyone has used bleach while washing them and didn't destroy them, please let me know! I ordered the Gorilla Grip Incontinence Mattress Pad Cover on Jan 22. It was delivered on Jan 25. I read the instructions on how to wash it; it has a lifetime warranty up to 300 washes; it holds 8 cups of water. It states DO NOT use an acidic laundry detergent but you can use bleach. I thought how the heck am I to know that? I've used Gain as my first choice and Tide as my second choice in laundry detergents, and I was not going out to buy a new laundry detergent just for this pad. I didn't believe this thin thing could hold 8 cups of water without leaking so I put it to the test before reviewing. I just bought a brand new mattress. I stripped the bed and laid a large piece of plastic on the exposed mattress. I then poured 8 cups of water onto this pad. LOW AND BEHOLD, IT HELD EVERY DROP!!!! The plastic was not wet and nothing dripped from the pad when I lifted it face up. DO NOT turn the pad over because all that water will pour out. It passed the test and deserves 5-stars! It bunches a little during the night but not so much that it couldn't give me that needed protection. This pad is excellent. Super absorbent on top, bone dry on the bottom. It grips really well and is plenty big enough to cover "the zone" on a twin mattress. Dig..My 5yo daughter is a deep, heavy sleeper and its difficult for her to listen to her body at night; ever so often she wets while sleeping. This pad has been a great asset in our routine to work through it without drama. Placed on top of a fitted sheep, the pad sticks in place really well, even with her tossing and turning (and jumping). Put a second fitted sheep on top of the pad, and make the bed. If there's an accident at night, its super easy to just pull off any wet blankets or sheets, remove the wet pad and oh! ... a dry, fitted sheet in place ready for tired little girls. Add new blanket if needed and she's back asleep in 5 min. No drama and Dad is back in bed asap. Winner.This pad has been a great tool in the parenting kit and I highly recommend it. Read more

I bought this for an incontinent elder friend. Her caregiver advised me that this brand is adequate in keeping the underside dry, but inadequate in wicking away moisture/liquid from the person sitting or lying on top!I ordered three different brands for the caregiver to try, and wasted a bunch of money, so I thought I'd share the experience so readers could make an informed decision.The second brand ordered was the Brosive 34x36" 2-pack pads: rather thin and not nearly absorbent as the RMS brand.The RMS brand is the best, in the opinion of the caregiver. RMS Ultra Soft 4-Layer Washable and Reusable Incontinence Bed Underpads, 34"X36". That said, she was really excited about the RMS pads with the handles, so I just ordered one more of those for her. Update: I bought a 3rd just 60 days ago after being so happy with the ones from a year ago. After 3 washes (vs probably 25 on the old ones) they are full of fabric pills. They fabric has clearly been changed by the manufacturer and it is terrible (see picture). Seriously disappointed in the change.Original review: A little unconventional use but I couldn’t be happier. We have 2 large fifteen year old dogs who can no longer hold it for more than a few hours and can’t hit a tiny pee pad no matter how hard they try. These have been a life savor and have saved our wooden floors. We even bought a 2nd set to rotate and have washed each no less than 30 times - still completely waterproof. Wish I could give this product zero stars. IT DID NOT WORK! Used it on my 8 yr old’s bed last night and her mattress still got urine soaked. No way she peed over 8 cups, this product simply isn’t waterproof. I’m completely disgusted and disappointed!!! Read more

The media could not be loaded.  I have used a few waterproof mattresses in the past and none was absorbent enough and neither stayed in place. I always end up washing both the mattress pad and the bedcovers.The Original GORILLA GRIP Slip-Resistant Incontinence Mattress Pad (52"x 34") Cover is a little expensive compared to the other 2 waterproof mattresses I have. But the size and quality match the price, so does the fact that it is slip-resistant.I use the Mattress Pad on a twin-size bed and it almost covers a twin-size bed. The ad claims the mattress pad to absorb 8 glasses of water ( not sure how much the 8 glass of water is , the quantity may vary to glass size) hence I tried the Mattress Pad Cover with 40 0z (1.18294 litres) of water. It does hold that (40 oz) much of water and keeps the bedcovers clean and dry.Overall, I am happy with the size, quality and price of the mattress. It is a lifesaver and I use it every day for a carefree ,tension-free feeling. it is better to buy one good mattress than buying multiple cheap waterproof mattresses which won't solve the purpose.would highly recommend. The little dots on the back do not grip anything. It's long enough I can tuck it in between the wall and the bed. The pad moves around as my daughter does at night. I got it for when she has her period so I'm not sure if it will keep the mattress clean and dry if there are accidents. Read more
