My friend was telling me how good this shampoo was so I had to try it for myself. I was excited to get my package but when I opened it my shampoo it was the exact same color as urine! My friends was clear so mine was either expired, old, or defective but the funny thing was it wasn't eligible for return!! This is the best shampoo. . . Giovanni seems to be the only brand I am not allergic to and this particular ttt shampoo just works the best for me...it gives a deep down clean without drying out your hair. I have super fine, wavyish, long hair, I focus the shampoo near my scalp and then I use whatever Giovanni conditioner I feel like using and focus that on the rest of my hair away from my scalp (since fine long hair tends to get dirty and weighed down mostly only near the scalp and drier the farther out you go). I've been using this shampoo for years and have never found anything better nor more gentle for my super sensitive skin. So glad it is on Amazon because it's not as easy to find in stores anymore. Update: Sunday 4/26/20Requested a replacement and it came in 2 days. Great. Opened the box. Same thing again. No tamper resist cover on the lid/pump. Cap was loose. Product spilled out into the box. Tried to request a return and it wouldn't let me. I don't care too much about some product going to waste but I DO care about the lack of tamper-safe plastic around the bottle. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a somewhat expensive mainstream brand name with a decent formula but it’s nothing close to properly formulated shampoos (which will cost more but are worth it). My only gripe is that the packaging was non-existent and the pump cap wasn’t secured with shrink wrap or even bothered to be tightened down. (Either that or it got so shaken up in shipping because there was nothing placed in the box to ensure this didn’t happen that the lid became unscrewed.) At any rate, the product is fine but packaging has been poor all around with amazon the past few months. Exchange is easy and I ordered before I ran out so no harm no foul, but I’ve noticed though that several photos and reviews mention poor packaging. What a sad waste of resources and due to the lack of a simple precaution, a lot of this product will be dumped as a result of returns which is not good for our environment. I was excited to find the larger size of this shampoo because it can be hard to find in my area. Some local retailers carry the brand, but not this 50/50 formula, which has been my go-to shampoo for years. I’ve tried just about every salon and department store brand out there, but this is what I’ve been coming back to again and again for the last 10 years because I never have a bad hair day when I use this + the 50/50 conditioner. It’s just the perfect shampoo for my long, fine textured color treated hair, and I like that this gentle formula doesn’t contain any SLS or harsh ingredients. I also rinse my hair once a month with some apple cider vinegar, and that’s literally all I need to do to maintain frizz-free, well conditioned hair— I never have to deep condition or do anything else, even in winter because the combo of this shampoo and the 50/50 conditioner gives my hair the right amount of cleansing and conditioning without ever weighing it down. This large bottle should last me at least 6-8 months, so I’m happy to find the larger size here. Read more

love this shampoo. i've been using this since dreading my hair about 5 years ago. i tried a couple of others, including this brands 50:50 clarifying shampoo, and i will definitely be sticking with this!i wash with this shampoo two times. the first time i don't get a lather, but i do get a nice lather on the 2nd wash. (why not since i don't need conditioner with this shampoo or with dreads).without all the extra "stuff" in it, my hair also dries about twice as fast as it did before (when i used conditioner, too).watch out when you first start using this, though. the peppermint is strong and overwhelming to the eyes at first, but no too long. I've heard a lot about this product and for me, it's no different than cheaper products. I used it twice and switched back to my shampoo (Fantasia ic naturals tea tree). Whole foods sells the trial size for approximately $3-4. I would suggest buying it there before making the investment. This was a regret for me. Read more

This shampoo works great. I like the sulfate free element and it cleans and lathers nicely. I have oily hair and shampoo every third day. No matter what shampoo I use (with sulfates or sulfate free), I have to shampoo twice. My hairdresser said the shampoo should froth when your hair is cleaned. If its not lathering the first time, shampoo again to pick up the rest of the oil - and the second time I have better lather. I also came across a nice lathering sulfate free shampoo at Aveda (Rosemary Mint), but I've not tried it enough times to give it a review. With Giovanni shampoo I've needed a clarifying shampoo once in a while - that can also depend on my hormones because the clarifying need fluctuates. I use Matrix Biolage Normalizing Shampoo (to balance normal to oily hair - it has sulfates - and I shampoo twice with this as well). Read more

I have normally aggravating hair - tough to brush, fly away strands etc. When I first used this shampoo, I did not use any conditioner. I was surprised to find that my hair was more manageable with less frizz. Same outcome on subsequent washes. The smell is invigorating, as described. Sort of clears your head and elevates mood. I love this shampoo. I've been using it on and off for years (I have curly 4b/c hair that is quite thick but can suffer from a lot of breakage. This shampoo just does the job, leaves my hair feeling soft and clean and I love the smell. I thought about trying another shampoo from the line but thought if it ain't broke why try to fix it. I also used to use the leave in conditioner which I love. I love Giovanni's products as they're vegan, cruelty free and organic and do a great job for my hair. In my experience, this is one of the better quality shampoos. Unlike other shampoos it has a shorter ingredients list with many beneficial ingredients and fewer harsh chemicals. The tea tree oil can be overpowering when it gets into your eyes, so be aware of this! I find that this shampoo thoroughly cleanses my hair and the bottle lasts a long time (I wash my hair every 2 to 3 weeks), which is good because it is a bit pricey!I would recommend this product. I am recommending this to all my friends and family no matter what hair type. Very difficult to find a sulphate free shampoo that leaves your hair squeaky clean with so little product.
