I bought these nail polishes so I can try gel for the first time. I didn't realize about the cat eye effect. I thought that was just a brand name. So I followed the instructions with a base coat, then cure, then coat of color, then cure, then another thin coat of color and don't cure but use magnetic stick hovering over each nail, but no cat eye effect. What am I doing wrong? Anther review said it takes about 5 seconds but I got nothing. Other than that the polish is pretty and gel polish seems nice so far. We'll see how long it lasts. If anyone has any pointers on the magnetic thing, please let me know.UPDATE: Finally Googled how to do the effect. Hover the magnetic over one spot in whatever angle or direction and hold on that one spot for 5-10 seconds and it worked great. The first time I was moving it around over the nail. Read more

The cat eye effect works well. The polish provides excellent coverage. I achieved nice results with just one coat. My only complaint is that the color that appeared to be red in the sample photo looked like a copper burgundy/ brown in the set I received (set #1) Read more

Ordered the #1 set and at first was disappointed because the "red" color I received was more a brown/copper. Wrote the seller and they immediately sent a new color that was red. The rest of the colors looked as expected. Reason for 4/5 is magnet included is kinda crappy. The magnetized line design is not centered and that makes it really hard to figure out where to hold it over your nail and where it will show up on your nail and to get your nail designs to match. Other than that the polish itself is really pretty and looks nice whether you choose to use the magnet effect or not. Works great with my cheap LED light. I get tons of compliments when I wear this polish. Overall, great deal for the price, just be aware that colors may not arrive as shown (but great customer service and they will fix it) and the magnet may be wonky to work with. Read more

This is my first time doing my own nails using gel nail polish. It can be very tricky but if you follow the instructions it should have a perfect finish. Make sure the first layer is thin as said in the instructions or it will not easily dry (I learned the hard way). The magnet works well but it's not as obvious as it is in the picture. I absolutely love the color choices but I must keep practicing for better results.Just keep in mind that when you set your fingers into the uv light nail dryer, make sure your nails are flat and all facing up so they dry evenly. I tried it on a friend and since her fingers were not flat inside the dryer, the nail polish did not dry well and when I used the rubbing alcohol to remove any stickiness some nail color rubbed off. Oh my gosh! How beautiful! You really only need one coat and I used the wand for a count of twenty seconds and it worked without fail. My pictures do not do this product justice! I put color in each bottle so I knew what was in each. My pictures is only my personal test to see if this product did in fact worked, And it absolutely did! I applied a bottom coat and cured with an UV light. Then I applied one coat of the polish. After applying the color, it was beautiful without the cat eye! Then I used the cat eye wand and wow! After counting to 20, the cat eye appeared. I used the UV light again. At this point you might be tempted to stop, however I caution you not to stop. To ensure the polish holds its sheen and not rub off, put in a good top coat and cure again. I cured twice then used a cotton ball with alahol to clean the nail off. Wala! The media could not be loaded.  The magnetic effect is very neat. I have been having a lot of fun playing with these polishes. They do tend to peel up quickly though. Have been having to redo the nails every few days. Not that I mind it that much though because like I said, I've been having fun seeing what different effects I can make with the magnets. It did come with one flat magnet but I also had one with a round magnet for different effects. I have really liked tipping the nails with a holo linear powder also for a little pop in the sunlight. I've been doing gel nails at home for over 10 years. This cat-eye set (plus base and top coat) is the easiest to use and best coverage brand I have tried, and I've tried many "name brand" gel polishes (OPI, Gelaze, Gelish, Fingerpaints). For example, with all of those name brands, I would end up with the polish "pulling away" from my tips even though I prepped them properly. Not Gellen! I got full coverage to my tips with no problem.I used the green first and only had to use ONE coat to get full coverage and used the magnet to get the cat-eye effect. It was easy! I will get more adventurous with layering colors and angling the magnet, but for my first time, it was so easy. (It didn't photograph well, but it looks really cool in-person. Even my teenage daughter was impressed.)For reference, I use an LED lamp that cures for 45 seconds. Gellen cured perfectly in that time. I highly recommend this line and will order more. Read more
