Dentists recommend kicking the paci habit by the time baby is 12 months old. We've got the weaning process down to a science (literally!) with this 5-step system to ditch the pacifier for good. Each paci is progressively shorter - and less satisfying - so baby gives that binky the boot. No kitchen scissors required! Wash before use

I was SOOO hopeful that these would work, however there is a giant flaw in this product. I assumed that it was five different pacifier sizes all sealed off at the end. Instead, it’s like they took scissors to the end and gradually cut more and more off. For one I could easily accomplish that at home.My daughter refuses a paci after there’s a bite mark in the pacifier and wants a new one, the giant holes in these would never fool her. The sad thing is, if these were sealed off at the end, and gradually got smaller without holes in them, they probably would have worked great. Read more

I was very skeptical about spending $20 on this, but didn't care because we have had it with our boys (25 mo) behavior and habits with his pacifiers (probably 12 laying around the apartment). When we opened the package we were not really sure how to go about introducing since we kind of knew the outcome (anger). I'm not sure there's a perfect way. We decided to throw all of his pacifiers away and let the largest nippled size sit around. After immediately refusing and crying for a bit, he finally started to try it out. He kept spitting it out, but he also kind of hung on to it without putting it into his mouth. After a rough nite we decided to leave the two next sizes out at the same time. He kept trying each one (throwing the other), then getting upset which sucked. We left the same two out the 3rd day, and he really tried soothing himself with the 3rd largest nipple. He just didn't take to it. After that he had no interest in them. After a bit of us panicking about what to do we realized he was done. We just threw the rest out and that was it. Shocked. Read more

I will say that this is basically the exact same thing as cutting the tips of your pacifiers like everyone tells you to do. However, since my son is older and can sort of be rationed with sometimes, we explained that now that he was a big guy, he had to start using this other kind of pacifier to not get Darth Maul or Grinch teeth. He took that so much better than us cutting his precious. 10 days later we are completely pacifier free. He even told me tonight when he saw his number 5 that he didn't even like Pacis anymore and now just liked really big Batman.Just as a warning bedtime and sleep BLEW through this whole thing, because he is trying to find a new way to self soothe, but it was definitely worth it. Let me start off by saying this; this product might not work for everyone. I honestly bought this product with the hope that it would help my 1 year(soon to be 2 year old) old toddler off of the pacifier but also knowing that it could go completely wrong and I would have to break down and give her a Paci back. Thankfully it worked, and we didn’t have to bring the dreaded Paci back. She only took a paci for sleeping anyway so we didn’t have to deal with daytime use.The 1-2 night rules for each was great, and by the end of a whole week she was done. She hasn’t needed one in three days and is completely content with going without it; this is coming from a girl who would Scream bloody murder and cry for 20 mins straight until I broke and gave in during my attempts at cold turkey method. She would even wake up in the middle of the night if her Paci wasn’t there. My husband made a comment on the Paci 5, he was like, “how is she supposed to suck on it?”I’m like, “that’s the point” haha.I could have gone cold turkey but this just made it so much easier and required one third of the fight. It’s great, I loved it and it was worth the money to avoid a headache. We’ve been struggling to get my almost 2 1/2 year old off the paci. It’s really the only thing she’d use to comfort herself. This was a game changer. Being that she has teeth she was starting to bite through her old paci’s and we were having to throw them away, so I told her I bought her some new ones. She was excited, then quickly realized she didn’t like them. I kept giving them to her and letting her decided not to have one. We made it to step two and she was completely done. Currently sleeping and napping, with no paci!!! Such a help for this stressed out Mama! Read more

We bought this to try for our 21 month old even though Frida Baby flat out says it might not work for older babies because they have become emotionally attached to the pacifier at that point. We figured for $20, it was worth a shot. She mostly only used a pacifier at nap time and bed time but there were days when she was not feeling well or just having a bad day that she would have it a good chunk of the day.We started out with stage 1 and she could tell there was a difference but she still took it. Moved on to stage 2 after 2 days. Again she could tell there was a difference but still took it. After 1 day on stage 2 we moved to stage 3 because the stage 2 pacifier got lost, same story noticed the difference but still took it, stage 3 seemed to fall out of her mouth easier than the rest. After 2 days moved to stage 4. She really noticed the difference with this one and wasn't happy about it at first for about and hour. Wasn't screaming mad or anything but kept putting it in her mouth and then taking it out and looking at it and giving it a weird look and then putting it back it and repeating. We decided that next day to try nap time without a pacifier at all and she did great without it! Didn't ask for it and didn't fight her nap either! It went so well we tried bedtime that night without the pacifier and she did wonderfully then too! Laid down and went to sleep as normal, no asking for the pacifier and no fighting sleep! We were able to completely skip stage 5!Completely weaned in under a week! It's been 2 weeks since then and she is still completely weaned. Hasn't had it back even once! Only once in the middle of the night on her second night without a pacifier she woke up crying and looking for one. I told her she went to bed without one and she stopped looking and went back to sleep. I'm truly thankful for this product and that it offers a slow, safe, gentle way to wean from the pacifier!! Last night was our 2.5 year old daughter's first night without her nuk pacifier pretty much since she was born. The first hour she refused the step 1 pacifier and just wanted to hold her daddy's hand while she grieved her soothies. Daddy told her he had to go to bed too so she asked for the "white soothie. " He gave it to her and she immediately called down. She called me into her room to tell me she likes it, but she doesn't want it, so she is just going to cuddle it. She cuddled it into her chest and I believe she fell asleep that way. She slept all night with a slightly early wake up.No tears with her nap today. I can't believe how smoothly this is going. I don't know if it's necessary to move on with the pacifier system if she's just holding it in her hand as a comfort, but I am a little worried about having to transition through the stages and her having to grieve each pacifier on the way.I'll update this review if I find the transitions difficult. So far I'm really happy with it tho. She really calmed down when she accepted step 1 as her only option. And I can't believe I wasn't up all night with an inconsolable toddler who just wants her soothie. She slept great and this morning woke up to a gift from the soothie fairy. We're having a great day. My child never made it past stage 1. Yes she was older then recommended but she used the type of pacifiers they recommended and we needed to try something. She HATED the stage 1 pacifier and threw it away each time we gave it to her. One time she fell asleep with it. But that was it, no more pacifier.Considering I often held her pacifier in my mouth the reason I think she hated it was that it was too tight around the mouth, we used the ones that were more open for sensitive skin so that could be why. Other than that I think the system is a good way to try to wean them off the pacifier. Safer than snipping ends off your own pacifier that’s for sure. Read more

This worked amazing.. until I got to step 4. Step 5 is just something they can hold since they can’t put it in their mouth so my son just got really frustrated because it was kind of like a tease for him. Step 5 should have enough nipple to it that they can put it in their mouths but not enough to suck so eventually they just give up on it. I’m glad we made it to step 4 but step 5 needs to be improved in order for this system to be completely successful. Read more
