I purchased this for my very calm (especially for a chihuahua) dog, Pepper.Pepper weighs less than 4 lbs. so you can understand she isn't big enough to damage items. She also never chews, at all. I wanted to block off the dining room area so she has the kitchen and dining when we aren't home and it's a strange area with a sliding door and a fireplace. Anyways, this gate does work as far as closing the gap of my intended area. The bad part is that the gate is so light and flimsy that I have to put a million items up against it so it doesn't get pushed over. I would put like 4 chairs on one side and a toy basket and table on the other to keep it upright. Overall, I feel like I could of went and grabbed a couple of pieces of wood to achieve this instead and they would be heavier and more effective. Anyways, Although this item was annoying I was still making it work. I used it about 4 times. 2 times my dog got out and she isn't a crafty dog. Typically when we aren't home she stays in one spot sleeping until we get back. Then to top it all off one slat cracked. My dog was not doing anything rough with this gate, it's just so flimsy that when I was folding it up it probably cracked. I'm very unsatisfied and I will try to return this. I didn't keep the original box because I had zero intention of returning.I had actually read reviews on this gate and saw some others had the same problems as I did, only they had much bigger dogs, or dogs that chew. (Any big chewer can chew through crazy things, like a bathroom door) so I attempted to give it a try because I really loved the idea and the look of this gate. If they added more stability and stronger slats this could be a real winner.Added picture is so you can see how it cracked-I taped it so it doesn't fall apart during return. Read more

I have a 97 inch opening into my kitchen and three very mosey dogs. I wanted something long enough, free standing and solid to keep them out of the kitchen. The gate is long enough but the quality is terrible. I had to purchase wood glue because after the first day, the gate began to fall apart at the seams. The wood is an unfinished type of wood and can be painted to color or stain, which I like. But the hassle of applying glue to all of the seams was time consuming for me. It does serve its purpose so i will be keeping it. They need someone kind of quality control check with this item. It can be a great product but it has its issues. Read more

One of the most disappointing products I've ever purchased on Amazon. First the good - it is a good width, and was effective at blocking off areas from our two small dogs, while it lasted that is. First off, it's shorter than I anticipated, quite low, lower than any other gate I've every gotten. The dogs could easily jump it, luckily they haven't. Mostly the problem is the quality and the construction The wood is very soft and light, almost like balsa wood. The construction was terrible. Virtually every single panel started falling apart almost immediately. The dowels broke off, the rails would separate from the header. I was patching and gluing a different section every week. The hinges between the section fell out because the wood was so soft, so we wound up using it as several separate sections that we had to overlap. It's reached the point of being useless now after only a year. I expect something like this to last considerably longer than that! Read more

I've had three panel version for 15 years and corgis forever. I was once told one had a "bad back" and to keep her contained and found her trying to jump over it. For the most part no one tries, but I'm usually in the room with it. I have a six month old and he doesn't really try to escape. The other one sometimes picks them up and throws them out of the way if it's worth it to her (for food. I had tied it to the wall for her "bad back" so she couldn't). I can easily step over it and have never tripped. The five panel one is glued instead of stapled, as others have said. I have added brads into each connection in the hopes it will last like the other one. I appreciate that they let me choose which side should be the bottom because it affects the way it works when using it to block two door openings on different walls. I love my old one, so far I love this one as much and hope to for as long. Also... my dog doesn't have a bad back, she just saw a bad veterinarian. Read more

This product is 15 inches tall. It looks taller in the picture. But it is tiny. Which is fine for me because my dog is 7 inches tall. She's a 7 pound Chiweenie and so far has not decided to jump this gate. But she's also not much of a jumper. If your dog jumps... This gate may not work. Its perfect for me because 1)my dog is tiny. 2) I enjoy being able to easily step over this gate without tripping. 3) its lightweight and easy to move around. I am very satisfied with this product. I have to wedge the gate against the trashcan and the cabinet because my dog has pushed the gate open but if I wedge it she does not get out.Again I'm happy with this product but I just wanted to share the possible drawbacks for other customers. 1- Our 8 weeks old Boston Terrier Puppy -who wears a cat collar because he's too small- broke free in under an hour, it's that bad.2- The connections in all corners are super weak, one arrived broken in box, and the puppy disconnected the other -without breaking- on day 2 of use, and there's no sign of glue on the disconnected one.3- Hinges only move in one direction, and each pair of adjacent hinges move in opposite directions, so this will be useless if you want to create a small den by putting them in a circle (pentagon).4- The wood is not finished, so expect A LOT of stains. On day three, the puppy pooped against the wood, and it has become deeply stained, and the only way left to clean it is to sand the wood.To make it barely usable we had to add a lot of screws here or there to make it more sturdy, specially the useless right-angle that is supposed to secure it in place (he could remove it in under a minute without screws)Basically, it arrived, we desperately needed to use it, so we didn't send it back and just decided to use the wood to build something else for the puppy to stay in until we buy something better. So I basically paid 100$ for the cheap wood. I would definitely have returned it if we didn't need it this urgently. DO NOT buy this, you'd be better off throwing your money away, at least someone may find it and put it to good use instead of this pile of cheap wood. Read more

Well it does the job but it was falling apart when I got it as the male piece that fits into the female piece was broken and unglued in two parts of the gate system. I cannot do anything about the broken male pieces but I can perhaps glue it shut. I have not had time to check it. Generally it is way over priced for the product components and effort. I would say it is worth 30 bucks and it cost over 100. I would think twice about buyint something that I cannot compare elsewhere first. Read more

This is a great little gate/fence for my purposes ! The expanse, to which it is able to expand, is exactly what I needed. I would simply note that it isn't very high and would not suit larger or more determined dogs. It nicely keeps my little 10lb. dog from entering an off limits area of the house. Funny in one way, because the cat's sail over it with regular monotony !! Read more

This works perfectly for my two little Shih Tzus. They can't jump over. I did have to re-glue a section with carpenters glue and then hold it in place while drying with a zip tie. I just left the zip tie on permanently and never had it happened again. It's long enough to block my dining room and stairs. Other than the initial glue issue, I have no complaints. Perfectly straight, mine actually measures 120". Read more

Only used off and on for about a month and it broke. Very delicate nails and hinges. Not for heavy use at all. Nice and big though which is what we needed Read more
