If you have ARMD you have likely been told the benefit of taking an AREDS2 vitamin twice a day can reduce sight loss by 25%. That's pretty significant for a vitamin! The more popular AREDS2 gel vitamins gave me terrible heartburn and consequently I was having a hard time making myself take them. This purchase was for my mother, who is in her 90's and has macular degeneration. She sees an eye specialist who recommends these vitamins specifically. Unfortunately, his office only sells the regular tablets. Like many old people, Mom has difficulty swallowing large pills. I was thrilled to find the chewable version of these wonderful vitamins. When one of the best eye doctors in the Midwest recommends this brand and no other, we paid attention. This might be a good product...my eye doctor recommended it.....but its not for me. It made me very ill so my Doctor told me to stop taking them. I only took 5 chews before I got a terrible headache, was dizzy; all this lasted several days.The Company told me there are no side affects, but I looked on line and found others had experienced they same results. The tablet is very tasty and easy to chew. I started using them only a few days ago, so I cannot give a review as to how they are affecting my eyes as yet. However, this supplement was suggested by my eye surgeon and s also sold in his office I am pleased that this supplement is in the chewable form. I ordered these for a client with macular degeneration who always chokes on the non-chewable pills. She says these taste good, but she doesn't like how these go to pieces when she bites them, becoming gritty and getting stuck in her teeth. That wouldn't be a big thing to me, but she hates it enough that she won't order them again, and she wanted to rate them 3 stars. I guess I'll be shopping for gummies next... Read more
Tastes ok but the formula is very good for your eye health. No animal by products so it is great for vegetarians and vegans. The capsule contain Bovine gelatin like most store bought vitamins. This a a great product and costs the same as the capsule kind. I recommend this product if you are looking for an animal free product that is an excellent vitamin for your eyes. Read more
My ophthalmologist recommended AREDS capsules to hopefully fend off glaucoma. I am a vegetarian and the capsules he recommended were gelatin caps. I was relieved to find the chewable tablets on Amazon. They dissolve quickly and have a nice fruity flavor. Read more
