I know from years of experience that Floxite has always made a rock-solid product. I've owned many Floxite mirrors over the years in many different models and since my go-to is currently a 15x lighted plug-in I knew that when looking for a 10x for my purse I was sure I couldn't go wrong...it would be a high quality, distortion-free mirror. (And who can beat that price? $6.99 on Prime?!!? I nearly fell off my chair!!!)Anyway, when I received my mirror, it was absolutely perfect! I loved its Cobalt color, every little rhinestone in place...it was perfect.My problem was that try after try, I just couldn't get the silly thing open! I pressed, then I pushed where the arrow was, then I thought maybe the arrow was telling me to press on the *opposite* side! No matter what I did, it wouldn't work. Bottom line, I was sure I had received a defective mirror and would have to send my pretty little blue mirror back.I just KNEW there had to be some sort of learning curve on opening the compact tho. It couldn't be this difficult! So I had a repeat performance the following day, and again the day after. I read Floxite's ad again finding nothing on how to open the compact. I read all the Amazon Questions, then the Reviews, finding nothing except many mentions of "hard to open".Well, it IS hard to open unless you actually know how, then it's a piece of cake (even for those with arthritis)!!!***The answer is there's NO PUSHING and NO PRESSING, involved at ALL!!!It's almost like a FLIP-TOP type of opening! While holding the compact and looking at the side with the arrow (which perhaps should be pointing in the other direction?!) gently LIFT UP the part you may have been pressing upon and...VOILA!!!I wrote this in the hopes that it may help some of you who like me who were fighting a pretty little blue mirror, unable to actually use it because as beautiful as it was, functional it wasn't!Now go put it to good use!!! 😊 Read more

i have worn prescription eyeglasses my entire life. one of the difficulties is putting on makeup. you can't use the bathroom mirror because it's not magnified so i have always been on the search for the best magnified compact. this floxite mirror foots the bill and is a lifesaver in many ways. the main thing with this mirror is the fact that there is no distortion. this is worth the price of admission and is the handiest thing to slip into your pocket. now, i bought several for "just because" gifts. they make great stocking stuffers too. While I have embraced most of being an aging female, I have relentlessly sought and triumphantly pulled every bristly hair on my chin that comes along! Over the past year I have contemplated, purchased and returned a few items to help me spot and pluck. First there was the mirror on a retractable arm. That one made it home, but before mounting it to the wall, I played with it a bit and decided that it wasn't what I wanted because the lighting in our bathroom did not seem like it would be effective for optimal use. Back to the store. And I really did't want to give be such a focal point. Then I scanned a few local stores for a make-up mirror with magnification and lighting. A few looked promising so I thought I would check out a few reviews on Amazon.Luckily this little compact mirror popped up for me to consider. It is wonderful. Because it is lightweight, it doesn't tire your arm to hold it and twist or turn to capture the best light. Because of its size, it easily slips away when not called to duty. I was instantly impressed (and a bit taken aback) with how much the 10x magnification showed and immediately found an emerging granny hair - gone in a blaze with my good slanted tweezers! I decided to use the morning light by the bathroom window and was rewarded even more with the extra help of sunlight. Minutes later I lost the hazy shadow that had been slowly creeping up above my upper lip!As I said, I did read a number of reviews. The biggest complaint seemed to center around how ease of opening this. I found absolutely no problem with this. It took a slight bit of examination to see how to get it out of the hard plastic packaging the comes around the lip of the mirror, but no big deal. It came well protected in bubble wrap. The case is basic plastic, nothing fancy. I will say that the sparkly middle does make it easy to spot on the counter (if that side is up). The color is a dark blue. Hope this helps you decide. I am well satisfied.9/2/2103I went to a big chain drugstore to find a similar mirror to just keep in my travel kit. While they had a number of options, none came close to this one. I love these huge compacts! I have an eyeshadow palette that is about the same size. It got to the point where I would just use the palette for the mirror so I decided to just get a mirror alone. The little embellishment in the front is cute enough. The whole compact feels good in your hands and I have normal size hands. I'm pretty brutal with the contents of my purse so we'll see if it withstands life with a toddler as well. Read more

I bought this compact and another compact from a different manufacturer. I bought them both as gifts for my daughters. While this compact’s 10x mirror was free from distortion it was not as clear and powerful as the other manufacturers mirror. I ended up ordering an additional mirror from the other manufacturer to replace this one. Read more

This is my second purchase of this item. I bought it for a friend in December 2015. I also wanted one for taking on holiday. It is not too heavy, feels robust and the 10x magnification is very good. I ordered the second one in February 2016. I am really pleased with it but do want to say I was disappointed that it had increased in price by £2 when I re-ordered. Floxit 10x Compact 2 optical Dfp Quality Glass from FloxiteI love this product which is excellent quality and great size and magnification. I have several in my handbags and around the house. I take on holiday as a good size and means I don't have to take a seperate travel mirror. I bought quite a few for xmas presents which all have said the compact is brilliant. The magnification mirror is great, but the smaller, ordinary mirror very quickly began to lose its silver (from the outer edge inwards) and corroded badly, so that it became unsightly and the view in it became increasingly restricted. The gold paint very soon began to come off the navy blue plastic case, as well. It would have been better not to have added the gold paint, as it all too quickly showed wear and didn't look good.
