Bought this for my 18 mo old and it was definitely age-appropriate and I’m sure he would have loved it. However, the oven wouldn’t stay closed. I don’t know if this is a problem with the design or if we just got a dud. We’d close it and it would either immediately fall open or after about 10 seconds. The stickers on it were also kind of wonky in places where you can tell they weren’t placed right and had to be smoothed down and consequently wrinkled. Not a deal-breaker, but unattractive. Lastly, the design is kind of weird. The fridge part of it closes to the back of the oven. So when you’re playing with it you kind of have to do so from the side so you can open and close the fridge. Otherwise, you can just leave it open, but then you have to go around the toy to access the features “inside” the fridge. Just kind of a weird design choice in my opinion. Otherwise it’s pretty cute. The only reason I couldn't give this toy a full 5 stars was because I had to return the first one. I bought it for my son for Christmas and when we opened it the batteries were dead. Which, I get that they're only there for "demo purposes" but I didn't expect them to be completely dead. My son still wanted to play with it, but once we got the batteries replaced the sink made oven noises and sang songs about baking and the oven made sink noises and sang about washing your hands. This is the second time I buy it because I didn’t think I was having another baby.. my toddler used to love it for years until we let it go.. so it is the first toy I looked up to buy back😂 it is small, so doesn’t take lots of space in the living room, discreet... but so much fun! Cute.. works perfectly. Comes in a box, I think just the way it is advertised, which I liked because is less plastic and rubish. Only the shapes come in a sealed bag. This kitchen was a Santa gift for my grandson who was 6 months at that time. He loved it and he’s 16 months now and he still loves this toy and plays with it a lot he especially loves the songs according to my daughter. He’s going to be happy this Christmas because he is getting an upgrade to a fisher price laugh and learn food truck . My son loves this kitchen, he is 14 months old and it is the first toy he goes and plays with. It has 3 settings English learn time, learn spanish and play time. In English play time it sings songs about eating healthy foods, says phrases like on/off open/close on what actions the child does, but my favorite mode is play time mode. In this mode the when the oven opens it makes an sound similar to an oven opening, it has a timer when they put the food in, the sink makes water sounds when the push the faucet nozzle and the stove top makes a frying sound when you put the pan on top. On the refrigerator side they have a shape sorter where you use the three shape food items that comes with the set, it also has a pull out drawer and an flip book that sings songs depending on the page. I recommend this for boys or girls. Its really sad fisher price quit making it so amazon is the only place at a reasonable price to purchase it. I didn't even know about this toy until it was at a doctors office my son was at and he really liked playing with it so fortunately the nurse who had bought it was there and told me to get it here. I bought this as a Christmas present for my 15 month old niece. Once she opened it she didn't want to play with anything else. She loves following me around the kitchen and tries to open my refrigerator. Having one of her own to open and close made her very happy. It didn't take long for her to figure out how to make everything work. the sounds are very realistic and she kept putting her hands under the faucet waiting for the water to come out. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 15 month old grand-daughter. When it arrived I was over joyed at how CUTE this toy is!!! The picture doesn't do it justice. It is VERY well made. It has a "boiling" sound for the pot, a on-off "light switch" that turns on the light and many other cute realistic kitchen sounds. There is a switch where you can choose music or the realistic kitchen sounds. The music is cute and teaches manners in its little tunes. My grand-daughter LOVES it!!
