The media could not be loaded. This definitely can span a little bit of an age group. When you open him up, and thank goodness he comes with batteries, immediately your children will want to start pushing buttons. That works out fine because it's easy to code or program on the first level. Basically you just tell him what to do and he does it. Left, right, forward, back and don't forget start! On the challenge level he tells your children what to do. The challenges start off simple but gradually increase in difficulty when you get it right. He offers positive reinforcement along the way, even when you're not successful at completing his challenge. If you have a little one that gets frustrated easy this may prove to be a bit of a challenge for them. The third game he plays is the one I like the most and one of my daughters is intrigued by. He comes with a box of additional things and you can learn to secretly code him. The challenge here is to get him to do some of his secret coding tricks. The other challenge however is even greater. You set up your own mazes/challenges and program him too perform correctly. Coming from a mom who programmed a maze yesterday, It can prove a bit of a challenge. I think everyone is enjoying that part. This little guy is incredibly well made and durable. If he happens to tip over or forward he knows and stops action. I like the fact as well that if he is not played with in a relatively short amount of time then he turns himself off to save batteries. That's a fantastic thing in this house because we go through batteries! When you complete a mission successfully you get rewarded with a dance and my children dance with him every time. I would say three to six is a good age range for this toy possibly even a little older. Programming him to go through mazes in ten steps can be challenging. I'd even love it if we had more than ten turns available but, I am an adult that likes a challenge as well. Overall, a pretty good stem toy. Read more
I wasn't sure about whether this would be age-appropriate based on the description, and that it says it's for 3-6 yrs old. However my grandson, 6, who hasn't been introduced to coding yet, but loves games like minecraft and others, has gone absolutely nutty over this robot. He loves the fact that he can make it do things, and figuring out the instructions is like a puzzle for him. I can't really imagine having given this to him at a much younger age, despite the fact that the "games" involve basic things that he already knows like colors and numbers. It does take some focus and ability to concentrate on a task to figure this out, as well as being able to understand what the purpose of coding is. It really helps that he can read and help with the instructions as well. At 3, he would have surely enjoyed the lights and sounds and actions of Kinderbot, but I doubt he would have had the patience to sit and figure out the coding part, or wait while mom or dad stumbled through it either. But at 6 -- he hasn't put it down since it got here. He's spent quite a bit of time figuring out different things to do with it, taken it outside to play, and even sleeping with it. I wish they had geared it for just a little bit older, say 4-7, with a little more educational value than colors and shapes, but the coding aspect of it is certainly a basic level and an important start. A wonderful toy, with great instructions that are easy to follow. Read more
The media could not be loaded. Most coding toys consist of learning how to follow directions and perform various tasks by entering in (programming) steps of operation. This toy is no different, but Kinderbot is much more versatile than some of the other basic ones we’ve played with. This robot has three buttons which offer different modes of play: independent coding, challenges and secret codes. The code button is designed for free play, and allows kids to set up their own robot walking patterns by using up to ten directional arrow moves (forward, backward, left and right). During the process, Kinderbot is very chatty and engaging. He repeats back what the child has programmed in as he takes each step. The challenge button is just that—Kinderbot gives coding directions that kids must set up, and when several sequences have been successfully achieved, Kinderbot makes the next directive a bit more challenging. This is our kids’ favorite button because Kinderbot emits robotic squeaks, there’s lots of fun music and he dances to each correct set-up. Included with this toy is a booklet full of secret codes and a few accessory tools (plane, axle, wheel and wedge). The third button implements the booklet and tools—kids must recreate the step patterns they see in the code book. Six designs in the booklet make Kinderbot form shapes, four demonstrate early engineering concepts (lever, ramp, seesaw, obstacle course) and the last six codes are just for fun (shark fin, tap dancer, saxophone, etc). What makes this toy so lovable is Kinderbot himself—no matter which mode button is pressed, he’s full of friendly talk, crazy moves and enthusiastic robotic support. This is a very fun way to learn greater than/less than concepts, numbers, colors, shapes and engineering basics. Our four year old twins love this charming robot, but their seven year old brother plays with Kinderbot as well, so it appeals to a wide age range. I’m glad it comes with a soft/loud/off button. The video shows what happens when the secret code for square is entered. Read more
My 4 year old son loves it. It’s very durable and programmed well. If he picks it up while it’s moving it makes a dizzy sound and stops. It has a cute little “personality” and dances when he wins a challenge. Read more
All I gotta say is wow! Perfect for my 3yr old. It’s helping her understand directions better, counting, and colours too. The secret code book is great. It really promotes gross motor activity. She gets down on the floor to pretend she’s the dog or shark. She also teaches it to go one direction in a circle and dances with it. Read more
Received an Amazon package that was singing and making silly noises. When opened, it was obvious that this toy had been used and repackaged. Power button was left on, so battery was nearly depleted. This could have been a very disappointing Christmas gift to a 4-year old.Have ordered a replacement, which I hope will be in new condition. Read more

Gracias. Read more
We bought this robot for our grandson's third birthday, and he is delighted with it. At the moment, adults are helping him with coding commands, but it won't be long before he understands how to do it himself. The directions are clear and easy to implement. It seems pretty sturdy, and we are hoping that he will enjoy it for years to come. Read more
