New to Shavette shaving,Have use the Dovo style shavette with decent success,That being said,The Feather Artist Club Japanese style is easier to handle and the extra weight compared to other shavettes helps with cutting smooth and clean. This with the Pro Guard blade has given me the closest shaves ive had since i started wet safety razor shaving a couple years ago. Use a soft touch and a steady hand and let the weight and blades do the work. Once you find out the angle needed for your face,shaving goes nice and smooth. This is pricey compared to other Shavettes,The Quality is high and the control you get with this style has made me more confident in my straight razor technique.Blade installation is simple,and removing panel to clean is also very simple. I have been using the Feather SS black handle model for a few weeks and love using it. I began using the ProGuard blades with good results. Now that I feel comfortable using a straight razor, I am experimenting with the Professional and the Super model blades. Although I'm doing fine with the Professionals, and the Supers, there are some days, and some areas of my face when I prefer going back to the ProGuards. So, I ordered the Feather SS Wine color razor. With two "color coded" razors, I can use two different blade models during a shave, or on different days without having to switch out the blades during the shave. It provides convenience and versatility. Also, I enjoy the wine color handle. It adds a bit of flair to my shaving area. The Feather SS is the ultimate razor for me. Just got it today, as usual I am impressed with the quality of Feather Artist Club razors. I have the SS folder, decided to try a Kamisori as well. Friendly warning, the blades for these razors are sharper than a straight razor (so I am told), so extreme care at first. It took me a week of shaving with my folding SS before I could put the styptic pencil aside. Yesterday a couple of nicks, no blood flow, today no nicks or weepers. Philosophically speaking, any day that you take a razor-sharp knife to your throat and survive is a good day. I am retired, but would bet you working straight razor folks have a more balanced view of danger and stress than most. Read more
Since switching to a straight razor shave this is by far the best handle for disposable blades I've ever seen and used I highly recommended and very easy to maneuver and little to no cuts due to the craftsmanship and easy to clean as well Read more
