Blonde hair is a job to maintain if you naturally have a darker shade of hair. A lot of the reviews left on this product are from ladies with not enough education on how the blonde hair/purple shampoo fully work. The comments saying that it made their hair bluish/purplish and leaving negative feedback is because there’s no education behind how purple and blonde work together. The dryness of the hair after using this product is also uneducated...Who would think that by bleaching your hair and maintaining a color that’s not naturally your color is going to not dry your hair out? There’s a double edged sword here. You want light blonde hair, here’s some things to remember when using a purple shampoo...1- the opposite of blonde is purple, so the shampoo helps brighten your dingy blonde. It’s not unusual for your hair to have hints of purple the first time through. It WILL wash out the second or third time. 2- you’re using purple shampoo to lift some brassiness off of your hair. It’s not unusual for your hair to be slightly drier when you rinse the shampoo out. Your hair WILL go back to normal the second or third wash. 3- use the purple shampoo every 3 or 4 times you wash your hair. Don’t lean on this as your daily shampoo. The more frequently you use it, the drier your hair will become. The product does exactly what it’s supposed to do if you use it correctly. I applied the shampoo on dry hair and left it on for abou 10 minutes, then washed it out and followed with conditioner. This helps brighten the hair (as well as give it the purple pigment, as it should) without diluting the shampoo with water. I was going for a brighter look. Using it to shampoo your hair in the shower for a minute will do the trick, too, but keep in mind that the shampoo gets diluted when water is added to it, causing it to not lift as much beassiness as you may want. The product does exactly what it’s designed to do, so if you feel the need to complain about the product making your hair blue/purple or drying your hair out, maybe blonde isn’t a a color option that you should continue to maintain. I’ve used countless purple toning shampoos over the years (that haven’t worked) and also never write reviews, but this stuff is too good and every blonde needs to know about it!I read reviews about how intense this product is so was a bit nervous to leave it on too long. After my first wash, I didn’t notice a difference so I just left it on a few minutes longer the next time and noticed a dramatic difference! Wear gloves if preferable, or scrub your hands immediately after sudsing your hair because it does stain. I’ve only ever been able to achieve a perfect ash blonde after leaving the salon so I am very excited to have finally found this shampoo! No negative things to say about it. Love love love! After using this I had so many compliments on my hair! I had been using shimmer lights purple shampoo. After someone told me about this I just had to try it! By far the best brightening shampoo out there! My hair is naturally dark so in order to get the nice ash blonde hair color that I like, it has to go through a brassy-orange stage. I've tried other 'purple' shampoos and this shampoo has been the most effective. It does stain your hands a bit so I suggest using some disposable vinyl gloves. It comes with a conditioner that smells like cupcakes. I only use it for 5 mins otherwise my hair will get a slight purple tint. With a couple more washes, the purple tint will go away. Read more

I have dyed blonde hair that was turning brassy and yellow so I bought this shampoo/conditioner combo. I read lots of reviews and watched some YouTube videos. A lot of the videos are about how to turn your hair white or purple which isn't what I wanted, but there were some that were about how to remove the brassy color. My first tip is to start slow. The first time I used it I left it on for 1 minute, now I'm leaving it on for 3 minutes. Better safe than sorry. Play around with the timing but be cautious and go longer the next time if you're not happy with the result. Your hands turn purple, but wash them right after you apply the shampoo and it will wash off (duh). Have a cleaning rag in the shower to wipe down all of the purple splatters, it might be hard to remove if you let it dry, so just take care of it right away. It is pretty drying, so use conditioner after you wash the shampoo out. I have been using it once a week, and that's working for me. Read more

Honestly it’s a great purple shampoo (and omg that conditioner is AMAZING). It’s better than what you’ll find in stores in the UK. Actually, it’s very similar to a product you can get in the states called Shimmer Lights.Now here’s the thing (and the reason i still won’t give it 5 stars) it stains my ends purple but doesn’t even TOUCH my roots. So I end up with this nasty yellow to purple dirty looking gradient. This isn’t individual to this product, every other purple shampoo does the exact same thing to me.HOWEVER I HAVE A WORK AROUND even if it’s a total pain to actually do. So the night before you plan to go anywhere, wash your hair with this stuff like normal. A good thorough scrub. Yes, it’ll look like shit but that’s ok because in the morning you get to fix it. When you wake up, BEFORE SHOWERING, just bone dry hair, apply this stuff to ONLY your roots. Yep, i mean basically pretend you are dying your hair (with the little brush and the sectioning and the whole nine yards). Leave it on for 30 minutes. Now go wash your hair and pay extra close attention to wash your ends very thoroughly to get as much purple out as possible. Trust me, this has never failed me.If you’re worried about washing your hair that much, don’t worry because that beautiful conditioner makes up for any and all dryness or damage you’d normally get. Superb product. I've never used anything like this until recently. I'm having my hair ballyage. I bought the John Frieda toner but it was rubbish. Didn't tone down as much as it said it would and was brassy again a few days later. I ordered this on recommendation from a friend and the first use toned my hair to an ash blonde. I also bought the conditioner, which smells like pina colada, it leaves your hair feeling divine afterwards and so easy to style.The first pic is after the first time and the last two are after the 3rd time using.Definite recommendation without hesitation. I have to go grey because I have become allergic to all hair dyes, professional and store bought. It's a gradual process.I had my hair stripped back with bleach at the hairdressers and she recommended this shampoo to control the brassiness. I bought both together because I thought it best to use the same brand conditioner. The No Yellow shampoo is great! I applied it on towel dried hair and although the smell is not nice, the results are very good and much of the brassiness is toned down. The smell of the conditioner is not unlike urine, even though it's supposed to be milk. It smells nothing like milk. In fact, the smell was so horrible that I washed my hair a second time with the Fanola no yellow and used my normal conditioner which worked great and smells nice. The shampoo does not make much lather so if your hair is a bit greasy, use your normal shampoo first then use the Fanola. I left mine in for the whole 5 minutes. I love the results. But really, the conditioner is so horrible smelling that I won't ever use it again. Save your money on the conditioner but the shampoo is a godsend! Read more

The conditioner is lovely, the smell reminds me of being young and drinking Cream Soda, it really does leave your hair feeling silky smooth and has a lovely milky feeling when applying to my hair.. The shampoo is not as good as I was expecting, The yellow tones seem to remain, I was going to buy No More Orange but the price puts me off incase this too does not work with the tones.. It does make your hair turn to a lovely silver or lighter shade of blonde on the ends but if you are looking to get rid of yellow tones near the root (after bleaching etc) then it did not work too well for myself. I purchased it over a month ago and I have gave it a few weeks before leaving a review, I still have not seen much difference in the yellow tones. Read more
