I have taken Excedrin for forty years, it was the only medicine that got rid of my sinus headaches, I think it must be the caffeine in it. When they came out with the Tension Headache formula, that was even faster in eliminating headaches. But if my headache is bad, I usually have to lay down for 1/2 an hour and use a cold washcloth to make sure the headache goes away. This has worked good for me. This is by far the best aspirin-free pain reliever of headaches and tensed muscles!!! Not only do I have 4 herniated discs in my neck, but I I have low platelets therefore cannot intake aspirin. Before my Thrombocytopenia (low platelets) was discovered, I used to take “Excedrin Migraine” (which contains aspirin in addition to Acetaminophen and caffeine), but aspirin is a blood thinner…. So my hematologist advised me to take “Excedrin Headache” instead because it is “aspirin FREE” yet is still contains the caffeine and acetaminophen that is needed to reduce the pain that results when I over “overdo it” at the gym, or lift something too heavy. For me, “Excedrin Headache” takes about 2 hours to provide substantial relief, whereas “Excedrin Migraine” zaps my migraine, or sore neck or muscles in 20 minutes… So, obviously, aspirin is a key ingredient; I wish I could take it. Wow, this worked fast on my grade 7 headache. It started fading after 20 min and 40 min later I forgot I'd had a headache. It also worked on a very sore calf muscle. The caffeine is great for a pick me up! The only complaints I have are with the bottle cap, which is hard to open, and I could not find a gel tablet version, which makes pills easier to swallow. I appreciate the aspirin-less option of headache relief with this. However I think I’m sensitive to the red colorant. I ran these under water very shortly to remove the thin coating and didn’t have the same issues, it seemed. Thought I’d share in case it helps anyone else. Read more
