Recently bought this product as a new father. Wanted to ensure product was suitable for my 2 month old year old son.Tested the carrier with my 28 year old, 80kg friend to ensure the carrier system was serviceable. Nil indications of carrier ripping or breaking was evident.Would recommend this carrier to anyone with an overweight baby. Read more
Having a baby is buying multiples of everything until you find something your baby likes (or at least won't cause screaming fits.) We have 5 different carriers/wraps. Every baby is different and what one likes another will hate. I suggest buying several from amazon, trying each out for the full 30 days and in the end just return the ones your baby never took too and keep the ones he or she likes. The Ergo baby wins the carrier challenge in our house. Baby didn't really like it at first but after a couple weeks I put him in this (at 2 1/2 months old) and he is out in seconds. I primarily just use this now for naps so I can still get things done. This is really the only way he naps now. When I'm wearing it I still have a good range of motion. I can move around and lift my arms up. Its pretty comfy for me and I am very happy with the purchase. It is breathable and keeps little one from sweating a lot. I think the only thing i miss is having a "hip seat" like the Bebamour i have which is carrier but has a hip seat that is detachable from carrier. We have a Tactical Baby carrier which is exorbitantly priced but my husband really wanted it, the baby hates it.We have a Moby wrap which was great for like the first month or so but no real back support so as the baby got bigger my back started hurting (also now little one no longer like being carried that way at 2 1/2 months.) Also I cant lift my arms up when wearing it so it limits my motion. The Mamaway Ring Sling Baby Wrap, baby didn't like and I think had a larger learning curve than the Moby wrap, we never got it to work just right. The Baby K'tan Active Baby Wrap Carrier which just didn't fit right as I was between sizes (again baby really wasn't impressed). The Bebamour New Style Designer Sling and Baby Carrier we still use but not the whole thing, just the hip seat. I like to put that on and face baby out so he can see whats happening, it just takes a bit of weight off my arms. I love that the hip seat is removable from carrier. If i could combine the Ergo with the Bebamour I think it would be the prefect carrier but if i had to choose one over the other Ergo wins for us.If my review was at all helpful please let me know.. Thanks! Read more
I’m not sure how I feel about this. I love being able to put my child in a carrier, but she gets hot easily so I got the cool air mesh. The mesh left deep imprints on her thighs with irritated redness. Read more
Awesome carrier! The bad reviews are way off on this carrier. It’s a shame they are what you see first on Amazon, and not all of the good reviews....The shoulder straps are “bulky” from the padding, but they are very, very flexible and comfortable. And I have no issue fitting under jackets - maybe if it is a tight fitting jacket, then sure, but a normal jacket fits easily over them. I didn’t get this carrier to begin with because we had two hand me downs - a Kelty and a cool mesh K’tan - and I thought we would use the K’tan the most so we also purchased a cotton one too. Now the Kelty- that is bulky! This is ridiculously comfortable, lightweight, and the exact opposite of bulky. For the two K’tans, they both feel far more bulky than this, probably because there is so much fabric wrapped around you tightly. After seven months of not using our carriers because they all overheated our baby - even the cool mesh K’tan - and never being able to get either of us comfortable in any of the carriers, I finally decided to try this carrier. And boy do I wish I had gotten it sooner! This feels like nothing, our baby is literally all smiles in it and it is amazingly comfortable for me to wear too. Our baby is very active, that may be a factor in the K’tans never being comfortable-there was a lot of squirming and the fabric would pull and end up lopsided with the baby being supported by a ball of fabric under one leg within ten minutes of being in the K’tan. The mesh isn’t uncomfortable, it is not soft like the K’tan mesh, but it isn’t scratchy or hard either - not sure what the complaints are about. It is also very well made, the fabric is very high quality, almost a denim-like texture but it is a lighter weight, high quality cotton twill and I can’t see how it could split - not sure what those complaints are about either. I think they may have made some adjustments though since others have reviewed it. The belt adjustment for baby leg spacing is now Velcro - and very secure Velcro, the belt is clipped together to keep it in place around your hips- there is no “slide” as other reviewers have mentioned, so maybe the fabric and mesh have been changed too?Bottom line - this carrier is awesome, it’s lightweight, minimal in bulk, fits our baby perfectly, and doesn’t overheat our baby. Awesome carrier.*update! I found what the other reviews mention as “slides” - they are on the body of the carrier/front - and they are quite poorly designed, they definitely slide, a lot.....but they are not needed to keep baby comfortable, the Velcro at the belt that is adjustable is really to only thing needed. Not really sure what they were thinking with the outer slides...I think this is where the plastic rods another reviewer mentioned are too, but again I don’t have, or see, an issue with them - the are on the outside of the carrier, and in no way that I can see could affect the comfort. Just a little annoying. Although I can see a use for the slides - they open up the leg spacing without having to take the carrier off and readjust the Velcro. It’s annoying that they don’t stay put, but convenient if you want to temporarily get more air flow...my 2 cents Read more
After our second hike with this carrier, the buckle for the shoulder strap just broke. We had 3.5 miles left and had to rig the carrier up with some fancy knots. This would be fine except for Ergo makes it really hard to get a new buckle. I expected MUCH more for $180! There are comparable carriers out there for last that will last longer! To get a new buckle you have to go threw an extensive process with Ergo sending them tons of photos, and they made it sound like this happens alot. It would awesome if they would at least make the process easier---I mean, we have newborns after all! I'd like to spend my time doing something other than send Ergo photos of the broken carrier! We always planned to get a carrier when baby got a bit older, but discovering we had a baby that hates to nap during the day we brought the plans forward. A few laps in the living room in this and she'll drift off in about 2 mins, which is worth the price alone. We chose this model firstly because it was hip dysplasia safe - also because it seemed so versatile. You can wear the baby front or back, or facing inwards or forward. At just 4-months old we've only tried wearing her on the front, but it is very comfortable. The wide, padded waist belt takes all the weight and there's plenty of adjustment available everywhere else to allow both of us to get her in a comfortable position.Ease of use is fine. My wife can get the baby in and out in seconds. I have less practise and am far less efficient but get it done fine.We bought the cool air version, as we can wrap her up in winter (we also got the fleece lined waterproof rain cover), but also want to use it when out and about in summer. The fabric seems strong and hard wearing and she seems very happy and comfortable. So far, we've really only experienced using it with a sleeping baby, so when she's older and looking around and moving more it will be interesting to see how she reacts.Let's be honest, it's very expensive. I think I said when it arrived "we've just paid £150 for half a backpack". But under the surface there is a well-built and well-thought-out product that we hope to get a lot of use out of over the next couple of years. It is probably overpriced for what it is, but it really does seem to be the best, it works well, is well-made and the baby is happy. Until someone else can provide all of this for less, then it is worth every penny. Read more
My husband and baby love this thing! My husband comes home from work and basically begs me to take the baby on a walk in this thing. He loves walking him with the dog and to the grocery store and everywhere! My husband has really bad back problems and he says this doesn’t hurt his back at all and supports it well. He says it is comfortable and my baby loves it. He falls asleep almost instantly and stays asleep the entire time he is in it. My little one is only 2 months so we haven’t tried the other positions yet but I’m excited to try the front facing position. I have yet to use it because I feel it is too bulky for me at the moment and prefer my ergo baby Aura wrap carrier. Right now I do have to help him get the baby in. Maybe once he is able to support his head fully it will be easier and maybe without the bulky jacket my husband and I will be able to use it on our own without assistance. Read more
Purchased on the 16/01/2019 and only used twice and on the second occasion one of the plastic clips broke as my partner was taking it off rendering it unusable.Very dissapointed as the rest of the carrier looks bomb proof. Will be returning this one and trying another. One off or design flaw only time will tell.Three stars for now will update review after return procedure/replacement received.UpdateThe replacement item has been flawless and is now being used by a second addition having been outgrown by the original occupant.Even a trek up a tricky Mayan pyramid with an 18 month old on board was no problem. The carrier has provided sterling service in day to day use and thankfully has turned out to be as bombproof as the military OD colour scheme would suggest. I really like this carrier. It distributes the weight really well and I can manage to put the baby in and take out myself without any assistance (I’ve only tried front and rear facing positions so far). My partner is a lot bigger than me and he can use it fine as well. The material feels quite rough though so I’ve bought the teething pads to cover the straps. This is softer for if baby falls asleep, to avoid rubbing his face against the strap. Read more
