I've been using this gum to clean my teeth and freshen my breath for a long time. Like the slogan says on the front face of the package, "Better than a Toothbrush". The shape and consistency of the gum seems to dig in and polish the surface of each tooth thoroughly. The gum contains a dose of Xylitol, a sugar substitute that is known to starve food-related bacteria. The website "Life Extension" has a great article on the benefits of Xylitol and Stevia. The 12 pack that I purchased offered a great value at $1.45 a pack. I highly recommend purchase of this product. Read more
I prefer xylitol chewing gum and I like these in particular because 1 piece is enough to chew at a time. The peppermint flavor is exceptional in my opinion and last a reasonable few minutes - maybe 10? I keep a pack near my nightstand to chew just before bed - not instead of brushing but keeps me from eating something after I have brushed! Having said that - I see my family has nearly gone thru this box so I'd better order more! Flat pack is easy to put in your purse and keep one in the car too. So much better for you than aspartame that is in nearly all gums these days. Read more
This gum is good. I had not chewed gum in several years but I had a hankering for gum. I bought some Extra Gum which advertises as being 'sugarless' BUT don't be fooled. It's got ASPARTAME and that stuff is deadly. The FDA has declared it to be very dangerous for your health but the government is crooked and the crooked politicians (Donald Rumsfeld in particular) has made a fortune off of those cheap sweeteners !! I was not expecting to like this gum so much!, but it really is good!! Doesn't harden up or lose flavor right away.For years after I quit smoking I chewed Nicorette gum. I decided to kick that habit also- and my teeth ( even after brushing and flossing) started having cavities. My dentist told me that whatever I was doing BEFORE was working.. now i was getting too many cavities. We realized that the Nicorette gum has Xylitol in it and that was helping keep the cavities at bay.I am going to chew away on this Epic Dental and hopefully get back to better check ups. Read more
I don't chew gum all the time, but when I want to chew gum I want something that isn't bad for me... so I had to quit chewing gum when all I could find was gum with that ugly old aspartame in it. You don't even want that stuff in your body, much less chew it around on your gums and teeth. So, imagine how delighted I was when i arrived at my dentist office and there was a little package of Xylitol gum for sale! Gum for sale at the Dentist's Office? What? I tried it... looked it up and decided that I could start chewing gum again. So, here we found this item on Amazon. Yum. Yum. Gum... I'll recommend it to anyone who wants a tasty treat to also help kill all that bad bacteria in our mouth. Go for it! I had been buying them in the larger bottles and that's okay, but I like this on the go version which fits nicely into my pocket or into an envelope when I want to share with someone else far away. First, this gum does not taste even remotely like wintergreen. There is a vague sweet taste, but that's it. Second, within a few minutes...maybe five... of starting to chew it the flavor is gone and the gum gets very hard and stays that way. You've got to work at it to chew it...not like gum at all, more like chewing on an eraser. I'm sending it back.Edited to add: No returns on this. So in the trash it went. And PLEASE don't buy this....after trying a couple pieces and writing this review, I got lightheaded and didn't feel well. Made in China crap!!! Amazon, please don't sell this. Read more
Been doing dental hygiene for years, always love to recommend this product to patients as a way to keep your mouth fresh, avoid cavities and stain. Epic is a brand I use myself so I have no problem recommending it. Love that you can get it through prime and it comes in bulk/many flavors. Love the little canisters the best for the car/on the go. It makes me feel good knowing that I'm not only improving my dental health but that I'm not ingesting anything that I shouldn't. The ingredients are clearly labeled with the most important ingredient, Xylitol, the very first on the list. There isn't any funny stuff. For example you could have a gum that says artificial flavoring but what exactly does that mean? If I don't know exactly what the artificial flavoring is then how do I know what I'm putting into my body? Secondly, whether aspartame is harmful or not isn't really important. I don't want any products that are even questionable in something as simple as a pack of gum.Xylitol tastes great and delivers over a gram of the active ingredient. The only thing I think they could improve on is the duration of the flavor which only lasts around a minute. Overall though I'm very satisfied with the product. Read more
