Im 44 and have been having 15-25 super intense hot flashes a day. It literally was horrible. A friend mentioned trying black cohosh. Id never heard of it but did a search online and saw that the Susan G Komen website wrote about it but only in this particular brand as being helpful to women. In combination with the Remifemin daytime tablets, this really does help me with sleep issues. If you can't have HRT it's well worth a try. I can compare it to ambien and other similar prescriptives. Even melatonin tends to lose effectiveness if used regularly. Initially it's not nearly the hit for a full night's sleep--but neither is it addictive or requiring increasing doses to get the same effect.Not sure why, but in my area (metropolitan Atlanta) Remifemin isn't readily available on my usual shopping rounds. I can't say enough good things about this product....I ordered it along with the "daytime" if you will, remifemin and I have not had more than 2 night time sweats since it kicked in. It took only about a week for me to see the difference. I use one of these at night (since they are a little more expensive than the "plain" remifemin) and then one of the white one for days.
