Multiple sets of shields I have purchased have creaked incessantly from the first use. I did not sterilize other than a hand wash, because apparently any heat will warp this plastic. A poor choice of material for something that really should be sterilized regularly!The last three sets have creaked within the first use, and others have developed the creak after 2 or 3 uses. I complained to Elvie and they were wonderful and sent replacements, but the replacements creak as well. By creak, I mean the shields shift with every pump motion and rub against the pumps, it sounds like walking on an old floor that creaks with every step.Frustrating because the pumps are so expensive for the purpose of discreet pumping, yet the creaking is so loud its ridiculous. I found scuff marks on different parts of the inside of the flanges. I rubbed off some of what was on there, but it took effort. The box may have been opened or a factor error, but the tag for hanging it on the shelf was inside the box. I put it back and there's not a way the tag hanger could have been pushed back into the box. I'm really disappointed, these are a medical need. Read more

Great spare shield for your pumping system if you’re an exclusive (or frequent) pumper. Having additional sets allowed me to stay on my pumping schedule during a busy work day even if I didn’t have the time to clean my first set right away. I have piece of mind staying sanitary and also on schedule for my milk production while being a full time working mama. My package looked like it was opened and didn’t even have proper inner packaging. As a results the breast shields had scratches. If I didn’t need them so desperately, I would return immediately. Just so disappointed, if I wanted this quality I would have bought them used at a discounted price. Only giving 2 stars because at least it came with both shields. Read more

I love this pump however the shields do not hold up well to cleaning even with the instructions of dishwasher safe and putting them on the top shelf they still wear down fairly quickly. The great news is customer service is awesome and very responsive so even though it's a bit of a hassle it isn't so bad because they are very quick to help with any problems you have Read more

Had to buy this second pair because was having suction issues with Elvie and turns out shields should not be sterilized per the company. They end up getting warped and loose their shape. Confusing because the instruction manual clearly says they can be sterilized and boiled. Must be washed with warm/hot water instead. Read more

I ordered 24mm flanges. However, not only did I receive 28mm flanges in a 24mm box....but they were **USED**!! They had dried water spots and milk on them. So gross!!This is absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable. When I posted about this in my pumping groups online, many women shared similar experiences with buying from Amazon. Instructions don’t specify cold wash/sterilising. Seem prone to warping/breaking even when using cold. Pretty disappointing for a product with such great potential especially when the machine demands a steep price tag. Should be better. Read more

So the elvie is amazing, but has one major flaw, which is that you can’t put the shields in the steam steriliser- because they warp. After spending soooo much money on the pump, these are a let down because if you want to use them, it’s a lot of faff and Milton. Read more
