I know if you’re like me, you read these reviews with a grain of salt. People complain about the littlest things. But I had to leave a review since the razor is now useless. Everything about the appearance and opereration of the razor was great. However only after two years the screw mechanism that connects the handle to the part that holds the blade has stripped. And the razor assembly won’t hold itself together. I made a point of drying the complete assembly EVERY time I used it. And I didn’t use it often, only on specaial occasions when I wanted a closer shave.If I felt in any way that it was user error or because of my carelessness I wouldn’t leave a bad review. But in this case I feel I must. I have my fathers razor that’s 60 years old that still works fine, this one should have lasted more then two years.Definitely Disappointed. Read more

Just buy it. I'm a beginner DE razor user. Tried the amazon #1 option butterfly open Weishi cuz i was scared i would cut myself like an idoit with a screw on top and didn't want to shell out to try this. After a month of mutilating myself with that I purchased this. I've shaved with it 4 times and I can't even begin to explain the difference. I have a super sensitive neck, very prone to razor burn. This thing is effortless to use in comparison to the Weishi. Mild shave, but so much more forgiving. I can actually feel the guard doing something with this one and finding the proper shaving angle is cake. It comes with derby blades which are good, but I find I prefer the Astra greens with this. Granted those are the only two I've tried :).Seems to be the real deal packaging looks authentic. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. Read more

I'm not a fan of disposable items, including razors. Over the years, I've used cartridge-type men's razors (I'm female) & they've been OK. But the manufacturers churn out redesigned razors which use cartridges that don't fit older razors. That means the older style cartridges become hard to find & ever more expensive. So shifting to a DE safety razor, with less of a throw-away factor & a standard blade design, had a lot of appeal.I bought the Edwin Jagger "Heather" (rolling my eyes a bit at the pastel lavender) -- the slightly longer handle seemed like it would be useful for leg shaving.The razor seems to be high quality & I've been happy with the shaving results. But I find the handle to be problematic -- it is just SO slippery. And it is still rather short, when it comes to shaving legs.Many comment on the sleek look of this razor. Nothing wrong with a sleek look (though I'd personally skip pastel colors), but I'd trade that for a non-slippery handle any day. Read more

I hadn't seen a lot of females posting reviews so I thought I would add my 2 cents. I use this to shave legs and underarms. At first it was a bit scary because the razor is so sharp. But you just hold it at the correct angle, don't press down, and it should be ok. There are even videos on Youtube to teach you how to do it. I did cut myself a little bit the first few times. It gets less scary the more times you use each razor blade because it becomes less sharp. I don't even use the fancy shave creams, just some soap in the shower, just as I previously did with the disposable cartridges, but my hair tends to be sparse and thin, so I'm not sure if thicker hair requires a cream. I have completely switched over to this system and use my leftover Venus cartridge system for travel only. Once you use this you will wonder why the cartridges even became popular - they seem like children's toys compared to the safety razor. I realized that increasing the number of blades on the cartridge system is just a gimmick. 5 blades are not necessary for a good shave - you only need 1. I purchased a razor variety pack with multiple brands containing 30 razors so I could figure out which brand I liked. This safety razor plus the the razor multi-pack probably cost the same as a new Venus shaver and 8 replacement cartridges. And this safety razor is much better quality and gives a better shave, not to mention much better looking - it is made of shiny metal and doesn't rust (the replacement razor blades might rust, though). The only drawback is that the handle on this safety razor short, and I would prefer a longer one. Since Gillette decided to insult me just by being a man, then it was time to find another shaving product.Although the weight of the product will be of some use getting used to, you realise how after all these years Gillette have been duping customers with what is nothing more than a cheap, plastic disposable razor.To boot the factory is located in Sheffield so you will be supporting a locally produced British industry, rather than some faceless corporation shamelessly trying to make some political point other than just selling me a product.I will now be looking at other Proctor & Gamble products to boycott. This razor has provided my mildest, least close shave ever, but that does not make it a poor product.The head has a thinner design than any of my older safety razors, thus it is great for getting close under the nose without fear of cuts. It's rubber handle makes it very easy to grip or apply additional pressure when required.I tested this product five times using the Derby blades provided, which also happen to be my blade of choice so any results should remain comparable to my usual shave. Allowing the blade to glide under the weight of the razors is a waste of time, I have to pass over three or four times unless pressure is applied via the short handle. I feel that perhaps my stubble is too thick for this design so will have to go hunting anew.If you have sensitive skin, thin or light hair growth then I fully endorse this razor as the results were consistent, plus it is a wonderfully well made and aesthetically pleasing product. Wie viele andere auch bin ich über den Unwillen, den Systemrasiererherstellern weiterhin mit vollen Händen mein Geld nachzuwerfen, bei den Rasierhobeln gelandet. Der Edwin Jagger ist dafür ein wunderbarer Einstiegsrasierer. Zwar gibt es noch deutlich günstigere Geräte (eben von den beiden großen Systemrasiererherstellern), allerdings sind die aus Plastik und halten vermutlich nicht so lange, wie ein verchromter Metallrasierer.Edwin Jagger verwendet denselben Rasierkopf wie der deutsche Hersteller Mühle in seinen wesentlich teureren Rasieren. Dieser hier hat einen geschlossenen Zahnkamm, wodurch er sich eher für die regelmäßige Rasur eignet - ein Modell mit offenem Zahnkamm kappt längere Barthaare noch einen Tick problemloser. Allerdings, auch ein Hobel mit geschlossenem Zahnkamm ist hier kein Vergleich mit dem Massaker, das ein Mehrklingen-Systemrasierer anrichtet, wenn ihm der Bart zu lang wird. Die DE-Klingen sind einfach wesentlich schärfer, und auch längere Haare verstopfen den Kopf nicht.Im Vergleich mit den aktuellen Modellen der Marke Merkur, die für Einsteiger häufig empfohlen werden (z.B. 23c, 25c, 34c) ist der Edwin Jagger durch den breiteren Seifenspalt etwas aggressiver. Bei ordentlicher Rasiervorbereitung und richtiger Handhabung (siehe unten) stellt das aber kein Problem dar, und erlaubt tendenziell gründlichere Rasuren.Amazon bietet den Rasierer in zwei Varianten an, die denselben Kopf haben, sich aber in Grifflänge und -Oberfläche unterscheiden. Meine Rezension bezieht sich auf die Version mit dem glatten Griff. Dieser ist länger als der Rädelgriff und liegt trotz fehlender Struktur gut in der Hand. Man hat auch mit nassen- oder rasierseifigen Fingern zu keinem Zeitpunkt Angst, er könnte wegrutschen.Mitgeliefert werden 5 Klingen der Marke Derby. Die Klingen sind ganz in Ordnung, und mit ein bisschen Vorsicht bekommt man damit sicherlich saubere, verletzungsfreie Rasuren hin. Klingenwahl ist zwar absolute Geschmackssache, aber die Männer, die Derby als ihre Lieblingsmarke bezeichnen, stellen wohl eher eine Minderheit. Es empfiehlt sich also, ein paar Marken auszuprobieren, bevor man sich festlegt. Aus meiner Sicht erwähnenswert sind hier Astra Platinum (die grünen), Personna Platinum (bekannt als die "rote" Personna, was inzwischen etwas irreführend ist, denn das rote Klingenpapier gibt es schon länger nicht mehr) und Feather (extrem scharf).Der Edwin Jagger besteht aus drei Teilen. Um die Klinge einzulegen, legt man am besten das obere Teil des Kopfes in die offene Handfläche, fasst mit der anderen Hand die Klinge zwischen Daumen und Zeigefinger an den beiden kürzeren (stumpfen) Seiten, und legt sie vorsichtig in das Kopfteil ein. Danach wird das untere Kopfteil daraufgelegt, und mit dem Griff alles gut verschraubt. Durch das Verschrauben biegt sich die Klinge, so dass an den Schneiden der richtige Winkel zum Rasieren entsteht.Zur Rasurvorbereitung sollten die Barthaare gut durchweicht sein. Am einfachsten geht das, wenn man sich direkt nach dem Duschen rasiert. Wer mag, kann (zum Schutz der Haut als Gleitfilm und zum weiteren Vorbereiten des Barthaares) mit Creme oder (Rasier- bzw. Körper-) Öl auftragen und kurz einwirken lassen, bevor es an den Schaum geht.Selbstverständlich kann man Dosenschaum auch mit einem Hobel verwenden, aber besseren Schaum (und ein stilvolleres Rasurritual, sofern man sich an so etwas erfreuen kann) gibt es mit Rasiercreme oder Rasierseife und Pinsel. Wer bisher keinen Pinsel hat, kann dafür horrende Summen ausgeben - oder erst einmal zum Synthetikpinsel mit dem blauen Griff aus dem Drogeriemarkt mit den zwei Buchstaben greifen. Für knapp 9 Euro bekommt man da einen echt brauchbaren Pinsel, und muss sich keine Gedanken über das Leid chinesischer Dachse machen. Als Rasierseife wird häufig die italienische Proraso empfohlen - für den Anfang tut es aber auch ein Palmolive-Stick für einen knappen Euro. Damit kann man sich auch die Rasierschale erstmal sparen - mit dem Stick geht man einfach durchs tropfnasse Gesicht, bis die Seife gut verteilt ist, und schäumt sie dann direkt im Gesicht auf.Die Rasur selbst erfolgt erst einmal mit dem Strich im 30-Grad-Winkel. Dabei auf keinen Fall Druck ausüben, sondern das Gewicht des Rasierers arbeiten lassen. Der Edwin Jagger fühlt sich angenehm schwer an - mit Plastikrasierern dürfte das schwieriger sein. Wie vom Systemrasierer bekannt seitliche Bewegungen der Klinge vermeiden, sonst wird's blutig. Nach der Rasur mit dem Strich kann noch eine weitere quer zum Strich und/oder gegen den Strich (für den Babypopo-Effekt) erfolgen - selbstverständlich mit neuem Schaum. Bei den ersten Gehversuchen mit Hobel würde ich aber dazu raten, nur mit dem Strich zu rasieren, damit die Haut sich daran gewöhnen kann.Nach der Rasur wird das Gesicht noch mit klarem Wasser gesäubert (kaltes Wasser hilft dabei, eventuelle kleinere Hautverletzungen zu schließen), mit einem (sauberen, am besten nur für das Gesicht verwendeten) Handtuch abgetupft, und mit After Shave desinfiziert und beruhigt. Für empfindliche Haut empfiehlt sich ein After Shave Balsam mit Kamille oder Aloe Vera. Eventuelle noch blutende Verletzungen kann man mit einem angefeuchteten Alaunstick schließen. Wenn man (anfangs) die gebotene Vorsicht walten lässt, bzw. sich (später) an den Hobel gewöhnt und die Bewegungen verinnerlicht hat, sollte das aber nur äußerst selten nötig sein.Der Spareffekt beim Umstieg auf den Hobel ist übrigens eher theoretischer Natur - wenn man einmal Gefallen daran gefunden hat, ist die Versuchung hoch, das für Klingen gesparte Geld (und mehr) in neue Hobel (geschlossener vs. offener Zahnkamm, verstellbare Hobel, oder einfach welche, die besonders gut aussehen), bessere Rasierpinsel (Silvertip-Dachshaar oder Silvertip Fibre), teure Rasierseife, Halter, Rasierschalen und so weiter zu investieren. Nessuna ne ha parlato e dal momento che mi sarebbe piaciuto trovare delle recensioni al femminile mi adopero io a farne una per le prossime neofite del rasoio di sicurezza.È comodissimo tra una ceretta e l’altra! Premessa sono partita molto scettica dato che i rasoi usa e getta ad una sola lama sono stati pressoché un trauma per tutte noi, ma difatti questi rasoi non c’entrano proprio niente con gli odiosissimi Bic!A differenza dei tradizionali a 5 lame questi scorre senza impigliarsi o intasarsi dalla caviglia fino al ginocchio, io ormai arrivo fin su la coscia senza fare alcuna pausa, dunque dopo le prime tre rasature in cui il terrore faceva da protagonista, vado velocissima, ma sul serio! Posso far tutta una gamba senza dover risciacquare per liberarlo da sapone e peli. Se la pelle è ben esfoliata non vi taglierete, (consiglio un guanto oppure la spazzolatura a secco!), ma se lo farete sappiate che le ferite saranno talmente micro da smettere di sanguinare nel giro di pochi secondi ma sopratutto una volta asciutte non capirete nemmeno dove diavolo vi eravate graffiate. Aggiungo anche che questo rasoio mi ha liberato definitivamente da infestanti peli incarniti, dalle irritazioni cosa che con qualsiasi rasoio di livello anche quelli dotati di sapone rosa Gillette non sono mai riuscita ad evitare, (mi riducevo in sangue!) ma SOPRATUTTO la rasatura mi dura più a lungo e nei primi due tre giorni sembra quasi di aver fatto la ceretta, un shogno! Ci tengo a precisare che sempre con quei carissimi rasoi ciò non avveniva bensì il giorno dopo mi ritrovavo immediatamente con l’effetto cactus, (sono mediterranea con una pelle paradossalmente chiarissima e ultrasensibile)Insomma al di là di essere un’ottima alternativa ecosostenibile è proprio la scelta più giusta per una rasatura efficace e velocissima! Spendevo quasi 15 euro al mese per i classici rasoi da 4, 5, 12 lameHo trovato questo rasoio mentre facevo acquisti e vedendo l'enorme numero di commenti e recensioni positive ho voluto provarlo.Il primo giorno è stato un po traumatico, diciamo che ho impiegato 40 minuti per farmi la barba però, mi sono divertito tantissimo.Mi sono goduto quei 40 minuti. Di solito quando ci si fa la barba sembra essere quasi un peso.Ho percepito quei 40 minuti come qualcosa di bello perché non avevo mai dedicato cosi tanta attenzione a me stesso nel fare la barba.Insomma come mi sono trovato? Benissimo. Dopo la terza volta di utilizzo avevo ridotto il tempo di rasatura a 10 minuti.Il rasoio scorre da solo e non irrita la pelle. Ho acquistato con questo rasoio anche le lamette ASTRA e il risparmio è eccezionale.Lo consiglio a tutti per scoprire davvero che cosa significa prendersi cura di se stessi. Read more
