These are great fabric squares to use for first aid purposes, or to apply beauty products, such as toner. They are oddly described as "sponges," but they are nothing like sponges - they are thin squares of non-paper fabric.I use them to clean my dogs' ears, as well as apply antiseptic to cuts and scrapes. I also use them to clean my face with expensive facial toner. They are pretty thin, so they don't waste expensive beauty products like happens when I use paper tissue or toilet paper, which absorbs lots of liquid and wastes product.They are a great size, being 4 inches by 4 inches when completely unfolded. I also use them folded over sometimes if I need a thicker cloth. Ordered these accidentally thinking they were the traditional woven gauze. My husband had an unfortunate encounter with some poison sumac and his arms were essentially two giant, gross blisters. We burned through a sleeve of the woven sponges in one day so had to quickly order these. They arrived same day and cost a few dollars less than the woven. More importantly, they seemed to be more efficient at absorbing the large volumes of ooze and they didn’t stick to his skin as much as the traditional gauze did. Overall, very good product. Believe it or not, my husband and I use these as “shields” when changing our newborn son. I searched for different gimmicky products to cover our son’s you-know-what so we didn’t get sprinkled on while changing him. We had a few pieces of gauze from the hospital that were cut up into smaller pieces to protect his circumcision. One day I chose to put a full piece over him while I was changing him and it has been a lifesaver ever since. I quickly ordered a whole package from Amazon and even though our son has gotten better at not sprinkling on us (either that or we have gotten better at changing him at the right times), we still use these just in case.The absorbency of the gauze isn’t bad, but it’s not like toilet paper. It will absorb a little bit of pee. Overall satisfied. Wish they would come in a zip-bag. Came enclosed in a paper wrapper, so once opened, the package is exposed to air. Zip-bag was a bit short to contain the opened package, so had to remove 2-3" of the "sponges", put the rest of the package in its wrappers, and the 2-3" of them in the bag beside the wrapper. As retired nurse, now taking care of elderly, it is nice having bag of supplies to grab and run when they get injured. Great for cleaning wounds but these are non the non-stick type and definitely hurt if used as bandage when removed. Read more

I got this to do the regular cleaning on my dog's skin infections due to allergy. It performs the task perfectly. Unlike cotton wool, it does not dissolve, but is just as soft, so you can gently work even on damaged skin to remove impurities.Here's the added bonus: it is ten times better in removing makeup as well! My dog had an open wound on her tail for 7 years (she had Addison’s disease and it couldn’t be removed as she couldn’t be put under or her chances of not waking up were really high.)
