Buckle up cause this is gonna be a long one. I always see people leaving 1 and 2 star reviews on some products that I absolutely LOVE, like this one. So finally I decided to read some of them. I’ve been using this makeup remover for 2 years now and if I hadn’t I would probably be skeptical buying if I saw the reviews so let me address most of the bad ones.1.) doesn’t cleanse good/leaves oil/ you have to wash your face after using itAnswer: this is a MAKEUP REMOVER cleansing BALM. It is meant to be followed up with a face cleanser, as is the next step in a skin care routine after makeup removal. If you read the instructions and use the product properly it does exactly what it claims to, removes all of your makeup so you can start your skin care routine.2.) smells badAnswer: this is a CLEAN product. It isn’t scented because that’s what is best for your skin. It is made without sulfates, parabens, and FRAGRANCES. It doesn’t smell bad, it just doesn’t smell like anything really.3.) doesn’t remove mascara/waterproof mascaraAnswer: THIS IS NOT AN EYE MAKEUP REMOVER . God help us all. This literally says a makeup remover for SKIN.Overall this is a gentle makeup removing balm that has the option for exfoliating while cutting down on the waste of wipes and being super good for your skin. A little goes a long way and a tub lasted me over a year. All you need to have success with this product is - common sense, the ability to read and follow simple instructions, and the bare minimum simplest of skin care routines. If you have sensitive skin, sample this to make sure it doesn’t upset your skin. But it you’re someone who doesn’t like this product, make sure you’re using it properly before saying how awful it is. If you use it correct and still dislike it that’s one thing, but expecting it to do things it’s not meant for is unrealistic. OK, so first of all-- I am not being paid for this nor did I receive any free products or anything of the sort. I am just really, genuinely in love with this product. I have been a loyal Obagi user for the past 15 years, but as I've aged I've noticed that my skin is getting itchy and dry. Yet, Obagi's gentle cleanser is the only product I've been able find that adequately removes makeup. I decided to try Drunk Elephant because I did a lot of research on quality products that are environmentally friendly. I had low expectations for this but OMG it WORKS. You only need a small amount and that makeup is OFF. It does feel a little slick afterward, but that feeling goes away quickly and leaves the face feeling soft and smooth. Honestly, I feel like this product is a bit of a gateway drug for me because I'm already looking at DE replacement products for my Obagi line as it runs out. Seriously, just try this stuff. I love this product. I have used it for the past two weeks and it works great. I have really sensitive skin and am prone to acne. I was on the hunt for a product that would work great for a taking off my makeup at the end of the day without breaking me out or irritating my skin. The application is awesome! The little spoon is great for helping scoop out the product. You only need a small amount. The product will last a long time for the amount you get. I definitely recommend this product!!! Read more

From the moment I opened this container, I noticed the top quarter of the product is yellow and a little harder. When I dig in deeper, the off-white, smoother product shows, just like the pictures. I don't know if this is old or if it's a knock-off, but I'm really disappointed.It also smells weird. I'm not sure what it's supposed to smell like, so I don't know if this smell is "off," but I don't like it. Read more

This is a good product and i will use it again. It removes makeup, it has no added fragrance, the scrub is a great added bonus. The magnetic scoop is a wonder. I'd love it is the cap of the scrub could also be magnetic to clip that on as well.For those who complain that the product stays hard, it melts in my hands and on my face and works fine, you may be in a colder climate. Unscented means no added scents, but it does have a smell. It smells sort of industrial. Works perfectly and leaves my skin so hydrated so not a big deal, but I'm used to a getting ready for bed ritual that includes all the things that make the experience lovely. Great value for the price considering competitors for a similar product are 2 and 3 times as much. I recommend this product. I have sensitive skin and it has not irritated me once, make-up comes off easily and leaves you with a very hydrated face and happy wallet. Read more

I was on a search for a cleanser that would remove waterproof mascara. I'd been using a cleansing oil from Philosophy that i loved but was discontinued. I dont really like oil based cleansing products because of they residue left behind. I've tried a few different products and haven't liked anything until this. The consistency is much like coconut oil and will melt from the warmth of your hand. The smell isnt that great but is tolerable for the brief amount of time im using it. I have relatively sensitive skin and tend to breakout. I've been using this product for a week now and find it to be gentle. With a little gentle scrubbing it removes my waterproof mascara without a problem. I then follow up with a cleanser to wash everything off after that. I love this cleanser. It melts your makeup right off your face. It feels really nice on your skin and has barely any scent. I wear a lot of eyeliner and eye makeup and it takes it right off. Love it and will def keep buying. I also love the little spatula that has a magnet on it that sticks to the lid. You don’t have get in in your fingernails. Brilliant! Read more

Pros- smells organic and not fragrancedCons- texture on the skin is like rubbing vaseline, equally as hard to get it off- I don't get the same clean feeling as other cleansing balms like elemis and clinique, after rinsing with water over 20 times there is still a lot of makeup left on my cotton pad- gimmick - the "slaai" beads really don't make sense and neither does the spoon.
