This floss is definitely best for people with widely spaced teeth, and not very good at all for people with tightly spaced teeth. If you have both as I do, then you might have a love/hate relationship with it. I'm not sorry I bought it, but I'm not sure whether I'll buy it again or not. I might buy some to have on hand for when I get those stubborn food bits stuck up there and my normal floss isn't cutting it.This floss is made up of many gossamer-thin strands twisted together in such a way that they expand and separate when you give the ends a tug. That "webbing" is what allows it to capture more food particles, even the ones deeply embedded in the tooth pockets.I can use my normal waxed floss or tape, and follow it up immediately with a second flossing using this stuff, and this always gets a few particles that my normal floss missed.However, because of the unique construction it shreds very badly when you try to pull it out from between tightly spaced teeth, leaving strands of itself stuck and requiring more floss and a lot of elbow grease to get out the fine strands.It's extremely thick, so you can't force it between very tightly spaced teeth at all. If you do manage to force it up in there, sometimes the only way to get it out is by drawing it out by one end. If you have tender gums, that can be painful.It's not smooth at all, but textured. That might be good for scraping off tarter. It definitely makes it harder to get in and out between the teeth.I hope that this has helped somebody to clarify the pros and cons as I experienced them. This shredded between my teeth so badly that I had to go to the dentist to get it extracted. I now have a $200+ dentist's bill. The dentist told me never to use this floss again and that had I waited another day or two to see them, I would have likely gotten a big abscess. Read more

I am a periodontist that has purchased and recommended this floss numerous times. I liked the 'yarn'-like material that the floss was made of. It stretched nicely to fit between the teeth without shredding, and the texture was great to remove plaque. The cardamon flavor was also very nice. Unfortunately the texture of this floss has changed and is no longer 'yarn'-like, it is much thinner and shreds easily. In addition, the flavor is no longer noticeable. There is really no reason to purchase or recommend this floss any longer. There are much less costly options available that I will purchase and recommend from now on. Read more

I love the floss and it works under the principle of being fluffy to grab everything and take it out.BUT!!!!! IF you have a part of your tooth that would cause the floss to shred (no idea I had that) then it shredded in between my teeth and I had to go through a very uncomfortable process at the dentist office to get it out. They had to seriously dig into my gums to get to it. The lady said she had never seen an issue like it before.The floss is great but maybe not for your teeth. After reading a social media thread about expanding toothpaste I ordered a few different brands that were recommended by other fellow dental hygienists. I’ve always used and recommended glide since it’s so easy to get in between tight contacts, however I have to agree with some hygienists comments that glide slides over and leaves behind a lot of food and bacteria. So after my use of several different brands, this one is one of my 2 favorites. This type of floss is great for almost everybody. It wouldn’t be great for small children, or people with braces. It is especially great for people with open contacts, periodontal disease and even works wonderfully for healthy adults. Read more

Wow. Not for me. Marketed as thin and stretchy? This was like a pipecleaner that shredded itself into microfibers that sought harbor in the contact points of my teeth. Now I a had a new problem. Hands down my favorite floss. I am dental hygienist, which means I'm pretty picky about my floss. I've never had floss pull out so much junk between my teeth. Once you start using Dr Tungs, no floss will compare. The only complaints I've ever had from my patients is either about the cardamom flavor or that it's too thick for their tight teeth. Either I have a defective item or the product itself is bad or over hyped.I have tight teeth on my interior and this "extremely" strong floss shreds. I am able to get this in but it doesn't come out in one piece. I have to use the other product - Glide to remove the shreds, This has happened to me many times and it is not because of the way I use the floss. Even Johnsons waxed floss works to an extent if I am careful; Glide works nicely as well. After reading so many five star reviews, I had great opinion on this product. I don’t need a flavour but I found the floss gentle and thorough. I use it with floss threaders under a bridge and it works well. Also reaches the tender pockets without being harsh so I’m more likely to use it.Will definitely purchase more. Read more
