This is a pretty good latch in design, but the execution leaves something to be desired. Basically, no matter how you slice it, you're going to end up pulling one of the latch piece off of the refrigerator door because the adhesive simply isn't going to hold. But if you want a latch that will automatically lock as soon as the refrigerator door closes (or any other door), this is the latch for you...assuming you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars and have significant installation complexity for an electronic system like those sold at securerefrig.com. I overcame the problem with the latch by just shooting a pair of screws through the base of the latch plate - they went straight through the latch and screwed directly into the refrigerator. When I decide to remove the latch, I can just use some black caulk to cover the screw holes. If you're willing to do this, the latch works great, but without this modification, expect the latch to fail. Read more

This is by far the easiest and most effective option we have tried to deter the 2yrold tasmanian devil from throwing all the food on the floor. HOWEVER, as others have mentioned, IF YOU EVER HAVE AN ADULT COME OVER THAT DOESN'T KNOW IT'S THERE (e.g. having any sort of adult party with randos checkin the fridge) IT WILL GET RIPPED OFF THE STICKER PART. I took the recommended advice to attach permanently with screws after busting the second one (2 adult parties), however, i must mention that BOTH PIECES may come off, requiring that you attach the smaller part hooked to the door, which is WAY HARDER than the big piece on the side of the fridge. Our door, at least, has some super solid metal meatiness to the door and requires drilling/different type of screws. Read more

We had a freezer door accidentally left open. A good deal of our meat was starting to thaw. We were horrified! I saw this product and thought that it would help keep the door closed. I cleaned the refrigerator with alcohol wipe first. Let it dry. Positioned the door piece next. Lastly I positioned the latch. I held pressure on the latch and catch pieces for 60 seconds. It has held very well with no problems. If it does detach I plan on doing the screw modification that has been recommended by other buyers. I would suggest giving yourself about 2 mm of clearance for the latch so that when you open it it doesn’t catch. Very simple product I think it’s a good value.Others posted that the adhesive did not hold. I thought perhaps user error but indeed the adhesive pad is not adequate to hold the bracket in place. Additionally, the door is about 2-3 mm wider than the refrigerator surface, so I ended up using 3 layers of 3M brand double sided tape to reapply. These have held up well. Still like the product a great deal, would recommend mfgr to use a thicker and more robust adhesive pad. Read more

My kids kept shutting the freezer to hard, so it pops open a little. After many lessons on how to properly shut the freezer, I realized that the error would still happen. After installing this by the tape included only, once the freezer shuts it stays shut. I have seen others drill holes in the plastic, then screw it on the freezer / refer, but after a month of use it still hold with just the double stick tape. This item is so cheap it is a no brainer to try if you want a shut freezer or child proof option. Read more

I bought this because my freezer door kept popping open when I close the fridge door. I like that it clicks shut automatically when you close the freezer door. But as stated in other reviews, the adhesive on the clip is no good. When you pull the door, it just pops off. I solved this by putting a couple of drops of Gorilla Glue on the adhesive. Since then, it works great. But it would have been nice if the original adhesive was better quality. On the other hand, it was pretty cheap, so you get what you pay for. Read more

I took some of the other posters advice and did not use the included stickies. Instead I pasted a bunch of command strips on each piece, and it's holding really well. This is the best fridge lock I have found. I just need something that closes on it's own, or we won't use it. Read more

In fact, it came off the next day. I see others are screwing into the refrigerator and I did not want to do that. So I use strong neodymium magnets, two on each side, and some double sticky velcor (cut to fit around the magnets), then re-enforce it with package clear tape, and it seem to do the trick. Ok, the package tape is not very pretty and you can probably do without it. But, at least this method does not require you drill holes into the refrigerator. Hope this method helps others. The idea and value is good, but can't say it's a functional product until the manufacturer fix the strength of the stickiness. Read more

The double sided tape is weak, it's difficult to judge how far apart to place the two pieces so it took me a couple tries to get it right. My floor is on an angle so sometimes my freezer door just swings open so I don't use it for baby proofing. I find the Velcro door closures work better but probably not the best for kids bc it's too easy for them to open? Read more

This latch requires a fridge door with a lot of level surface, and while ours has a lot, it's not enough. This did not fit and is not worth sending back. I'm going to try to give it away to a friend if they have an appliance this will work with. Read more

Simple and effective. Does the trick. Had to reinforce the tape to keep it stuck to the fridge though.d Read more
