Once in place, this gate is extraordinarily sturdy and easy to operate, and is pretty nice looking too. We are using it to keep pets out of the kitchen, and needed something easy to open while carrying food. I really like that the door opens in both directions. It's great that it can be installed without drilling into the woodwork, which I am not allowed to do in my rental. I just wish it could be tightened with a wrench or hex key rather than hands, because It needs to be very tight to push the two sides of the latch into place (much more than what's shown in the video), and there's not much to grip onto. I have currently been using a cheap wooden baby gate to block off my puppies room from the rest of the house. This metal gate was worth every penny. It is sturdy, easy for myself and my children to operate. It looks nice. I love the self-closing option and also the fact that it has the option to stay open as well. Got tired of the constant stress of my 2 year old so easily and continuously breaking through the typical wooded gates you find in stores to block a doorway. It became a constant aggravation for the whole family.This gate is GREAT! Finally can stop continually stopping what we were doing to put a doorway gate back up. Very sturdy, gives you choice of pressure or mounted stability. The self closing is very convenient, much more than I thought it would be, but would also be fine without it. I have been through a lot of pressure mounted baby gates over the years in home and for work to contain many dogs at a time and dogs of varying sizes/strength/determination to be free. This one is nicely built. Not too heavy but still sturdy. I needed it to keep my dogs in and to deter neighbor dogs and other pests from my container plants on the deck. I wrongly assumed this standard width would fit my deck, but needed something more narrow. So I just added an extender and did it at a slight angle and it is still sitting sturdy enough to do the job. The steel color is a unique color to gates as well. It was a tight fit for my closet doorway but I was able to tack it in with a hammer and it is certainly not going anywhere now. keeps my dog out of the closet so I no longer find clothes dragged about the house. We have gone through 5 gates now, ranging from affordable to outrageous ($200+). Honestly, we started out wanting something that worked and didn't look hideous. Then we got to the point that we just wanted something that worked. Most gates did not last or our 2 year old could push over or figure out how to open himself. This gate is secure, not bad looking, and he can't open it. We didn't have to use screws either. These gates have truly been an amazing addition to our baby proofing efforts. We currently have three of these gates. It was a great solution for us as we live in an older home with original woodwork. We were nervous about drilling into the woodwork and creating a problem to fix later. But we were even more concerned about our children's safety. These gates were our solution. I would just remind users to tighten "screws" at the season change. As the wood in the door frame naturally expands and contracts, it can cause the gate to become slightly loose. All that needs to be done is a quick tightening turn! Read more
