I bought this supplement to help with my knee pain after an MRI confirmed I had damage done to my meniscus, but not enough damage to warrant any surgery. I received and started using these pills on July 16th. On July 26th I had my first episode of insomnia that is ongoing as of August 11th. I have never had sleep issues before in my life and I'm not under any unusual amount of stress that would effect my sleep. For the life of me I could not figure out what was causing this insomnia as it literally came out of nowhere. Out of sheer luck, I happened to find an article from AARP (I'm 30 years old) while I was searching things like "supplements that cause insomnia" that stated that Chondroitin Sulfate and Glucosamine are known to contribute to insomnia. Furthermore, one of the other supplements/ingredients in this supplement is MSM or Methylsulfonylmethane, which if you look up, literally has a side effect of insomnia listed. I'm quite confident that this is the culprit and I am terminating my use of it immediately.Will others have this same issue? Maybe, maybe not. Hey! I should teach the kids tennis.....aching knee.....diagnosis....torn cartridge but not bad enough for surgery yet. I am not a big supplement person. However, with an aching knee, I came across the Dr. Tobias Hip, Knee, Joint and noticed the large number of great reviews. What the heck....lets try. I suffered knee pain for 6 weeks. After only 5-6 days of taking Dr. Tobias, knee pain gone ....FINALLY!. Wait, maybe the knee just stopped hurting on its own....so I stopped taking after a week of no pain. After a few days, the pain returns. Wait....maybe I just restrained it. I started Dr. Tobias again and 4 days or so later.....no knee pain. I am sold. I did not like the 5 pill a day dosage and a major big box had a sale on a joint supplement that includes 2 of the 3 active ingredients listed in Dr. Tobias. I decide to try that and save some money and only 2 pills per day. After several days, knee pain returns ...though on the mild side. After much research, Dr. Tobias was rated very highly for its purity and actually containing the total amount of mg it advertises. Many products contain metals and other fillers that decrease the true amt of mg. MSM must be taken in the higher dose along with the glucosamine in order to be effective. I’m grateful for the veggie caps or would not have been able to swallow tablets or hard caplets. Also, because of gastric issues and absorption into the body I take 2/morning, 2/afternoon and 1 in the early evening. Five caps a day and this is 48 days worth so it’s a good deal for the price. The first day, I took all 5 in the morning which resulted in upset stomach and a headache. Those can be side effects but once I spaced them out....no problem. Be sure and take with food. I began to notice relief in a few days. I have Plantars Fasciitis and coupled with the use of Orthodics in my shoes and the pain I had changed my gait which caused extreme discomfort in my foot & knee. I had stopped using the Orthodics approximately 6 months ago because my foot had gotten better but the knee problem was excruciatingly painful at times making it really difficult to do the stretches required with Plantars Fasciitis. The number of reviews from people who said they experienced a reduction in pain after taking this product, was the reason I decided to try it. My skepticism left after 3 days when my knee pain was gone! The relief continues. That doesn't mean I'm cured - there still is no cure for arthritis. And I still must be careful not to twist my knee. I've been researching for a great MSM product and came across Dr. Tobias. I suffer from IBS/ comstipation type, PTSD, and Major Depression. I have a lot of prescribed medications that take a toll on my body, so on my mission to better health I sought for Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM). MSM is found naturally in fruits, corn, tomatoes, milk, and tea, but adjusting to these higher fibrous foods doesn't help with IBS. With this product I'm getting the MSM that I'm looking for. I take 5 capsules a day with a meal and plenty of water.I have noticed my PMS symptoms have lessened, my stomach is less upset after meals, and some shoulder mobility improvement.
