I have a metric heck-ton of hair--I look like I have multiple packs of hair extensions growing out of my head--but it's currently only shoulder length. So I ordered three packs for a grand total of thirty rollers. I had maybe two or three leftover rollers after everything was in place. The trick to not having frizzy curls with foam rollers is to work in sections on your scalp that are no bigger that the roller, and then roll the hair up flat like a ribbon instead of twisting it like a rope. And when you take the roller out, twirl it out of your hair like a wand instead of unrolling it like a carpet. You'll have Shirley Temple ringlets at first, but you can gently comb the curlers with your fingers (or do a vintage brush out if you used a good setting lotion before rolling). Also, the reason these kinds of curlers "fall apart" is so you can free your hair if you get stuck for some reason. They easily snap back together. Read more
I like to sleep with my rollers in my hair for several reasons - it's convenient, no heat damage to my hair, and I get a beautiful long lasting result for the following day. I've been using this brand of foam rollers for several years now only because I cannot seem to find another brand of foam rollers in this 1.5 size. They are very comfortable but there is TERRIBLE problem with them - the plastic snap holders don't work! The plastic holders are flimsy and they don't snap shut. So... what I've had to do over the years is substitute the plastic holders from this set of 1.5 sized rollers with holders from a different set of rollers - that is, the 1 inch sized roller set that I have, made by the same company! for some reason, the holders of other sizes are thick and sturdy and do work. But not in the 1.5 roller size! So, I would not recommend this product until the manufacturer improves the quality of the plastic roller snap holders. Read more
This is the worst product I have ever purchased on Amazon. I was away for the weekend at my nieces wedding and purchased these rollers to do my hair the night before the wedding. The plastic clips on the foam rollers kept snapping off and no matter how many times I tried to put them back together I did not succeed. I was a mess the next day. I would not offer these rollers for sale no matter how cheap they are ... cheap is cheap. They went into the garbage. Read more
These rollers are a necessity for preserving my curls during the week. I have chin length, Afro natural type 4 curly hair. One way I style my natural hair is to roller set it using perm rods to achieve a curly Afro. Though my style always comes out pretty the first day I had been unable to get my hairstyle to last longer than 1 day. My curls would become flattened and misshapen when I slept. Now I use these 5/8 inch satin covered foam rollers to re-roll sections of my hair around the perimeter of my head where I sleep. The satin really protects my hair and I love that I don’t have to use end papers. Because the rollers are so soft I get a really good night’s sleep and I wake up to perfect curls. I haven’t had any unsnapping issues with these rollers. These perform so much better than the foam rollers without satin as they don’t pull my hair. No need to use end papers and saves so much time. Now my curls last 5 -6 days . I’m going to order 2 more packs to have on backup just in case. Read more
Like the weightlessness, gentle impact on hair. Was wanting to get away from using self-gripping rollers or anything with pins which were causing tangling, hair loss. These are not as sturdy as the comparable product many decades ago. The old ones were softer, more sponge-like and had sturdier clasps. The foam on these is rather 'crispy,' the clip quite flimsy. First few times using, these gave hair an odd 'musty' smell. Reversing the snap lock, as mentioned by others, does seem to help prevent the pieces separating but also find them difficult to snug up against scalp so they end up flopping around. After wearing for many hours, whether starting with very damp or almost dry hair...even adding some blow drying...the lovely, subtle curls that are achieved fall out in mere moments.Update: after several weeks, lots of trial and error, have learned that if damp hair is wound very, very tight, and rollers are left in for many, many hours (part of day and all night), the resulting curls are just what I was hoping for. So initial disappointment has turned to being satisfied, for the most part. (Still wish the clasps were sturdier.) Read more
The clamp on the roller is flimsy. It broke off after a couple of uses. I would have returned them if I had not passed the return date. I purchased 2 packs and very few of them are not broken yet but they will break eventually. I really think I should be compensated for such a poorly constructed product. I've had other brands that have lasted for years. At first, I thought it was 1 or 2 rollers that were defective but no, yesterday at least 4 of them broke while I was trying to use them. Read more
I bought these rollers in April 2018, and waited to see whether they would be as good as my last roller set. These rollers do get the job done, but the foam is very rough and leaves my hair extremely dry and frizzy. Plus, they also lose their shape rather quickly, out of 20 rollers half of them are now flat or oblong shaped. Plus, I had to throw 3 away when I initially got the order because they were permanently crushed - the foam refused to go back into it's cylindrical shape. That should have been a red flag to begin with. Oh well, my search for good rollers continues. Read more
Tried it 3 times on my pretty long hair... (middle of my back). First time it didn't worked at all, I looked crazy. Second and third time was better, but the fine balance between ''not wet enough'' and ''too wet'' is pretty hard to achieve. Took me 3x the time to curl my hair with the rolls than with my fingers (like I usually do). If you have short/medium long hair, you'll be ok. Long hair, forget it, use your good old curling iron. These are excellent quality foam rollers at a great price. Rolling hair is a skill that takes time- don’t blame the rollers! Foam rollers will naturally squash under the pressure of a tight roll (you WANT a tight roll), so always order at least .50 bigger that you need. Therefore if you like the1.0 curl size produced by your curling iron, make sure you order 1.5 min. Also, foam rollers WILL dehydrate the hair, so add a little more oil/cream than you normally would. This product was extremely easy to use and the curls came out very well. I tend to use it on the ends of my hair to protect it while I’m sleeping and also to give it a nice look when I wake up. Read more
