In the bottle it says to not swallow. If it is swallowed, you have to visit the emergency room.Um, that’s a red flag. Thanks for the heads up, but I will kit be using this.Organic, extra virgin coconut oil is proven to kill 100% of the bacteria in the mouth. At least if I accidentally swallow this, I won’t have to go to the emergency room. This is a no-go. Read more

I generally love Desert Essence products but this is a swing and a miss. The point of oil pulling is to use specific oils to swish through your mouth to cleanse it of impurities. It is a very simple process that should be easy to do and the taste should be mostly neutral. However, Desert Essence has really spun this concept into something that, for me, is just not worth it even at such a great price. It seems to me that they are trying to create a mouthwash/oil pulling hybrid rather than a product just for oil pulling. It has a double layer of oils that has to be shaken vigorously and poured immediately before the oils separate again. Once the oils are in my mouth, there is a very unpleasant taste to it that is sweet yet biting and bitter. I think it's a combination of xylitol and flavorings (mint and tea tree) that makes it so repulsive to me. YMMV.I will go back to my Banyan Botanicals Daily Swish. It's well worth a few dollars more. when my hygenist suggested I try pulling to improve bleeding in my gums when prodded it sounded terrible. Take a teaspoon of coconut oil and swish it around, for like 'em 30 minutes??? This sounded nothing short of terrible. A) it sounded really nasty to put in one's mouth B) how was i going to breathe as a mouth breather.....But all that thinking is erased upon using this product. It is absolutely no problem to swish it around in one's mouth for 30 minutes with no unpleasant tastes during or after. I just ordered my second bottle. I haven't been back for my dental check up but will add to this review when i do. I do feel my gums are less red and i felt it was whitening at first but after 2 months i am not as sure. I am a coffee drinker so that may not help either. Mouth does feel good though right after using which follow with electric toothbrush, flossing and a water pik.Follow up - 3 bottles later......two dental checks - gums are much improved using this product, no more gushing bleeding when highly poked, a little less pointy look of the gums, healthier color; hygienist did suggest i try to do more pulling of this product on my back upper teeth. The suggestion on my hygienist part to try doing the coconut pulling was a good one and with this product it's no problem to do! Read more

This seems like a beginner’s oil pulling formula that works wonders after the first(or third) time round. Like the instructions say: do NOT spit in the sink. The oil hardens when it’s hot at the risk of clogging your drain. When pulling and swishing after a few seconds you can feel residue or food come out that you might not have fully flossed out the night before. That’s IF you floss.Don’t throw out your Listerine though: it’s best to take it in tandem with an antiseptic mouthwash to make sure you have all the crevices in your mouth covered. Read more

My brother suggested I buy this product as he uses it and raves about it's efficacy. Well he is right!! My teeth seem to stay whiter and my gums look healthy. My only complaint is that I didn't listen to my brother sooner and buy this!! Read more

While my final verdict is still out, in just a few uses, I can already see a difference in the health of my gums. I've been having a ton of issues with my gums for the past few years, and a friend who experienced gum issues following multiple pregnancies told me about oil pulling and washes. I figured I had nothing to lose, and so far it seems to be making a difference. Read more

Do not buy this if you want something that tastes minty and leaves a peppermint taste in your mouth.. It tastes awful. Despite the taste of the oil, it did help loosen food remnants from my teeth, but it also left an oily sheen over my teeth. They looked slightly discolored afterwards - be aware of that especially.
