I haven't had a flake since I started using this , and absolutely no itch. It's been a life changer for me. I have eczema and the itch would drive me crazy. I tried everything from over the counter to prescriptions, but nothing worked. Then one day I saw this at a major discount store so I had to try it. Once I did I never looked back. I have tried a number of coal tar shampoos over the years, but like the menthol tingle in Denorex the best. The coal tar formulas do seem to work better for me than the salicylic acid ones. I did like it better without the conditioner, but was not able to find that when I needed to order this time. I hope the Denorex shampoo without the conditioner has not been discontinued. Read more

This is the Denorex formula containing Coal Tar. It is the one that works best for me. Denorex also makes a shampoo with Salicylic Acid as the main ingredient. The difference is not obvious from the packaging. Read the back label to be sure you get the one you need. Read more

I used this shampoo many years ago, and one day I could no longer find it. I thought it was discontinued. But recently I saw a reference to it in an article and decided to look for it on Amazon. We have very dry, flaky scalp in our family. After using Head and Shoulders, T Gel, and other over the counter dandruff/dry scalp shampoos, we found that this one actually gets rid of all of our itching and flaking. The others always reduced the symptoms but they never went away. This shampoo isn't a great moisturizer and the smell is very earthy. We don't even care because it works the best for us! Read more

Okay, so most importantly it made my scalp less itchy. Downside....LEGIT smells like tar, and not like oh hey...Hot summer day while they are paving...No...It's a burn you eyes, and nose while it's on...It makes your head tingle while on there and your hair will have the tar smell after its out, but if you have severely itchy scalp maybe that is something you are willing to cope with. I’ve had scaly patches on my scalp for years. After just three applications of this product, all the patches were gone. I would highly recommend this product. I'm disappointed to find that the amount of coal tar in Denorex has been reduced and the menthol is now being touted as the best part. When I had to use this before, it was the coal tar that kept my scalp from itching all day long. I guess I'll have to go check out T-Gel, and see if there is anything else on the market as strong as Denorex used to be. Read more
