I needed something small for my daughters room. She had books under her bed and in her closet, basically everywhere! UPDATE: after 7-8 days of airing out the room, the paint smell was super strong. We returned the shelves for a full refund.I like the overall look and color of these shelves for my daughter's room. They were relatively easy to assemble. Unfortunately, there are 2 big issues:1) Most picture books don't fit:As we started putting books on the shelves, we realized most vertical facing picture books do not fit on the bottom two shelves. At that point, we had already mounted the shelves and it was too much of a pain to ship everything back. We ended up putting the bigger books on top (not safe) where they could fit. I ended up putting some books horizontally instead of vertically...they stick out like a sore thumb and overall look is messy once books are on the shelf.2) Very strong paint smell:When we were assembling the shelves, we opened the windows to let the smell out and assumed the strong smell was because the shelves had been boxed up. The assembled shelves have been up for over 48 hours now and you cannot enter our daughter's room. All windows have been open during the day to air the room out, we have a fan blowing on the shelves...and it still smells terrible. She has been sleeping in our room for a couple of days since as even I get a headache being in the room. Read more

The main reason I gave these 3 stars was because of the awful smell. I put them outside to off-gas for a week and then it started to rain. I had to bring them in and put them in a spare room closet and they continued to smell terrible for over a month. They finally lost the stink and I was able to assemble the shelves and put in our grandson's room. They are a bit small but serve the purpose. They're sturdy and will probably last for years. I chose this book shelf for my son's bedroom because it matches the furniture he already has. I love the size (small enough for him to be able to reach all of the shelves) and color. I bought the first one for his room over a year ago and decided to purchase another one for him for Christmas this year.The pieces seem extremely sturdy and it was easy to put together - I was able to do it by myself (Mom power - lol) . After putting the new one together, I placed it by the old one and realized that the old one was leaning and the shelves were bowing. I had about an inche between the book shelf and the wall, and the shelf leans so much, it actually touches the wall at the top. I never even noticed until I put the new one in. I never mounted it (we have plaster walls), so had it been mounted, it may have been able to remain more stable?I really loved this book shelf and wasn't able to find anything else even remotely close to the color of the rest of the furniture in my son's room that also fit the space we have available. I'm so disappointed that it didn't hold up, especially because we will need another one at some point - he has so many books! Read more

I love it! It may not be the highest quality but certainly worth the money. Assembly was so breezy. Got it done in less than half hour. I have been looking for a bookshelf for so long for this small area in my daughter’s room and i am glad i waited and found this little thing. So cute. I did not put all the books yet and i know it wont be enough for it all since we have so many second hands from older sister, but this is a perfect size for the little one. I love love love it. We have a two year old and she can reach every shelf. It holds quite a bit and feels well built....maybe a bit stronger than ikea, but not as strong as solid wood...but definitely not flexing and nothing feels loose.Another feature I like in addition to the top shelf that stores larger books is that it doesn't have any sharp edges. Nearly everything else I checked out had sharp edges. We ordered a second one when we realized how good they are. I don't see how you can do better for fifty dollars.It does smell when you first open the package, but I left it on our porch for a couple of days and think that cleared most of it and then maybe a week later it was completely gone. Know what to expect when you buy this- it’s a cheap shelf but it gets the job done. I liked this one because the top shelf is open, and can hold taller books.It’s made out of three shelfs, two sides, and three back braces. The pieces hold together with built-in pegs and screws/cams. Comes with a L bracket, two screws, and drywall anchor to secure the shelf to a wall. Definitely secure the shelf! I screwed the brace into a stud (recommended) so I can’t comment on the quality of the anchor.I deducted a star because my package was missing exactly two screws and two cam locks. The shelfs that are missing the screws are still supported by the pegs, so it’s functional, but for $50+ I’m a little sore about the missing screws. It feels very sturdy overall, though.My shelf didn’t have any cosmetic damage, yay. The screws attach on the side of the shelf, and the holes are very noticeable so buy some white screw stickers of that bugs you. Read more

Very nice for this money. Easy to assemble and sturdy. Won’t fix it to the wall. There are some imperfections and they’re visible but it’s fine. It’s been almost two weeks and I have the shelf sitting in the garage to air out the horrible smell. I don’t even think I will put it in my son’s nursery anymore. Just received and assembled today. The bookshelf is so cute and sturdy and matches perfectly with my nursery furniture. I would have given 5 stars, but there were some deficiencies which include some chipped paint and some bubbling on the shelves and pieces. Otherwise it's a great bookshelf for the price! Read more
