I’m torn whether I should recommend these or not.First of all they’re gorgeous! The colors, the handle, the fabric, everything is great quality. They’re durable and large.But that smell!! I read the reviews before I purchased but figure people are too sensitive or exaggerate. In this case they aren’t! I have a really high sense of smell and when I first smelled these it was bad! I put them outside to air out for a week before I felt it might be ok to bring them in. They still smelled bad but I figured it was just me and my strong nose and I would just deal with it. My husband has a really bad sense of smell so when he says they smell bad I know it’s serious. I sprayed.. no soaked these in febreeze and left them out a few more days. Didn’t help. I’ve had these since Sept 24th and it’s taken weekly febreeze showers and a plug in right next to them for the smell to begin to fade away. I still get strong hints of the smell especially when I pull one out and use it. I don’t know when it will be gone completely, but it shouldn’t take this long.The baskets themselves are great but the smell is really that bad.. like puke and rotten food. Okay so I typically ignore when a review says something smells because it typically airs out in a couple days. BUT these have been outside for 4 days now and every time I bring them in... they smell just as strong. Not just a “I can smell it when my face is up against it” thing like I put them in my entryway every night when I bring them in from airing out... and I can smell them when I come downstairs in the morning.So do with that information what you will, they look nice and seem pretty sturdy so I’ll give them a couple extra days and some febreeze but I don’t think I’m too hopeful about the smell 🙁 Read more

They smell is so bad it makes me gag being in the same room with these. Its been 17 days since they were delivered and they still make the entire room smell like a rotten milk mixed with puke. 4 of those 17 days we left them outside and nothing changed. I really like the design and size of it, but I realized (after a frantic search to find out the cause) that touching these boxes cause me to have really bad allergic dermatitis. I initially thought it was caused by other things, but I was able to rule them out by eliminating them from my apartment. I then began to notice that the reaction started with my arm and spread. So I started wearing gloves touching these boxes and got better. Then once I forgot to put on the gloves, and again got intense itch and bumps all over my arm which spread to every inch of my body. I highly discourage anyone from purchasing this... I suspect they may use some kind of horrible chemicals to make these. Read more

In terms of aesthetics, sturdiness, and value, these boxes are very good. That said, upon opening the package, the chemical smell was unbearable--like REALLY bad. I've had similar experiences with other purchases where the smell is bad initially, but it dissipates after awhile, and so we sent these boxes to the garage to off-gas for a few days... and then a few days more... and now nearly four weeks later, they smell just as bad as the day we took them out of the packaging. They're so bad, in fact, that our 11-year-old son plugs his nose whenever he has to go into our two-car garage; the smell actually permeates the whole area. It's that bad. Smells absolutely horrific. Not specifically a chemical smell, just a sour awful smell that clings to anything that goes in these bins - including electrical cords and cables (so you KNOW it’s bad).They look nice stuffed into an IKEA Kallax bookcase, but the smell hits you within 2feet of it. The product seems fine enough, and would have served its purpose as closet bins except for the awful smell that hits as soon as you open the packaging. We tried Febreze spray, fabric softener sheets, and airing them out overnight outside to no avail. No way I’m putting these in my closet near my clothes—much less putting clothes IN them—to absorb that stench. Read more

I needed baskets for my IKEA storage cubes that would fill the cube to provide max extended kitchen storage & prevent unsightly shelf dust. First, I looked at IKEA & it was $60 for 4 baskets that I know from experience do not 100% fill the cube & show dust. (It’s a huge pain to dust these cubes, IMO.). I was so happy to find these baskets as they fit perfectly & are nearly half the IKEA price & better looking than the baskets at IKEA. I was a little apprehensive due to earlier comments about the smell and thought i might have to return it. I did find that there is a smell; you can smell the cardboard inserts. I do not mind the smell of cardboard; to me it’s not a chemical smell. If this smell bothers some people, you could probably put the cardboard into plastic & duct tape shut prior to inserting into the fabric. Read more

These are great and without the lid fit perfectly in Ikea Kallax units. In one of my packs the bottom on one of the boxes was missing but the supplier was super helpful and immediately sent me replacements. I live the look and the quality. Using for toys and craft supplies. Read more

These look and feel a lot better quality than I was expecting for the price. Nice material look and very sturdy once assembled. On assembly there was a bit of a whiff (the glue I expect) but I left them out to air all day and it was gone and none since. Very happy with purchase. Read more

Lovely storage boxes, fit perfectly in my IKEA unit and very sturdy. Only negative is they have a very odd smell like they been sitting in a warehouse for a long time maybe, its been a month or so and still smell strange. I've had to add in some sented bags to try and cover it up! Read more

These were a bit small for the kallax unit but did look quite nice, we stored the on top of a cupboard. Easy to assemble abs pretty sturdy. However, they smelt quite bad - like a stale nappy so not particularly pleasant. Read more
