This is a terrible crib product. It looks cheap and feels cheap. The white paint was unevenly applied and rubs off easily (how is that safe for the baby?).The wooden pieces arrived cracked. Look at my pictures. The quality is absolutely disgusting. It gets worse - customer service is non-existent. There is no way to reach a human being. You have to leave a voicemail, to which no one will ever reply. I’m really disappointed. Davinci Kalani turned out to be a huge waste of money and a huge waste of timeI honestly don’t know where the five-star reviews are coming from. Are they fake reviews? Read more

As any parent knows, baby shopping can be stressful, it seems like a crib will have 5-star reviews, but then a few mentioning babies getting hurt/killed etc and you think 'I cant take that chance!' For me it was like that, same with chemicals etc. I really wanted to stay away from chemicals, fumes and so on. This was on my small final list, and eventually just went with it.It is amazingly sturdy when assembled (momma rests her entire weight on the railing to kiss baby goodnight), zero fumes (my mattress had more fumes), looks good, solid construction and all around good. It isn't made in america, but I think it was taiwan or something which is better than china. For the price it blows around anything sub $300. I went with it after spending literal days trying to find the right one, you'll probably like it too. Read more

Don’t waste your money! Incredibly difficult to put together. We’ve spent the best part of every weekend over 2 months trying to put this darn thing together. Ordered an additional pack of hardware just in case but it’s not that. The screws require the exact perfect angle to work and it’s impossible even with 2 people to hold the wood, hold the nut in place then have the 2nd person try to screw it in at exactly the right angle.Think about your client base please when designing these! It has taken us hours and hours over the course of 2 months to try to put this together and our baby had been left with no crib while we battle with this. We’ve spent every weekend trying to build this darn thing rather than spend that precious time with our baby - time we are never going to get back. We’re left out of pocket, missing our baby and with no crib to show for it. Only purchase if you’re a builder with adequate time, knowledge, experience and tools to build this yourself Read more

It is well made very sturdy, the only problem I have with it now is that my 9 month old sometimes gets his legs caught in between the wood gaps. He does move a lot when he sleeps so I have to put him in a sleep sack to avoid him getting up due to that. Read more

Update on 5/20: I got in touch with Kalani support on the phone. The agent mentioned that he knows of the issue and can send a part. He just needed some information over email. When I shared the details over email, he refused the send the part, citing that the "mattress should be returned to Amazon" instead. I am appalled by this level of customer service. They know of the issue (since many have reported it before), and have a solution with a replacement part, but would not help a customer. Also, their 'Contact Us' form on their website does not work, so they claim they did not get our two messages in the past. They did not seem to care either, no assurance that they will fix their website or anything.Review on 5/1: I have directly written to the manufacturer with this same text but have not received a response or acknowledgement of my email in two weeks. This review can easily go back to being a 4 to 5 star but presently I have to give it the minimum, as my issue has not been acknowledged or resolved.I am having issues fitting a mattress correctly into this crib. I have seen this issue being mentioned in other customer reviews (for a different color Kalani) on Amazon, and have also seen a YouTube video to that effect so I am assuming the manufacturers are aware of it and have a solution.Model Name: Kalani 4 in 1 Crib Honey OakModel Number: 5501Serial Number: HS0154262003Manufacture Date: Mar 2020 HSInterior Crib Measurements (on Amazon product ad) - 52.125"L x 28.125"WThe instructions with the crib say the mattress must be at least 27 1/4 x 51 5/8 inches. This is highly misinforming as those measurements seem to be the maximum dimensions (not the minimum as stated) for a mattress to be used in the crib. The mattress I have bought after verifying the Da Vinci recommended minimum mattress dimensions is the Emily mattress by My Green Mattress. That mattress is a standard crib mattress with dimension of 52 x 27 1/4 x 6.0. I found that because of the way the mattress supports are made and where they attach to the crib, the mattress size is largely limited by the length of the mattress platform, which is 51 5/8 inches long. Any mattress above 51 5/8 will NOT fit correctly as the mattress will be sitting on top of the diagonally extending support arms and does not sit level with the mattress support platform see below. The corners tend to sit on the support arms especially if the mattress has edge support meaning a wire that runs along the corners to strengthen the edges, in a nutshell the mattress will NEVER sit level. Most standard size crib mattress are at least 52 inches long and over time when settled may even increase in size. In the Kalani crib, the orientation of the support arms and the support holes mean the arms will interfere/limit the mattress size to 51 5/8 or lesser. And honestly, I would not want my mattress size to be lesser than 51 5/8 inches (for this crib) since the guiding principle is that the mattress should fit snug in the crib with less than two finger space, and so I really want my mattress to be as close as possible to the interior measurements of the Kalani crib which is 52 1/4 inch. And my mattress is right there at 52 inches. So I bought the right mattress for the crib in theory but this design flaw in the mattress platform attachement is limiting the usable length within the crib.I wonder if the manufacturers have a solution like updated hardware / differently designed platform mounting kit or a mattress platform with a different orientation of how the supports go into the holes? As of right now, I love the look of the Kalani 4 in 1, but I fear that I will have to return it if there are no options available to me to create a safe sleeping environment with my newborn. This crib gets pretty constant excellent ratings for safety. That's why I bought it. All of the reviews place this crib at, or near the top with respect to safety. So I won't really touch on that. What I will say is that it looks great, it's really easy to put together and allows the kid to grow into this as a real bed. Since it isn't too frilly and crib like one the head and foot, I can see this becoming a really decent twin bed when she gets older.Shipping was pretty good. The box was banged up a bit on arrival, but the crib itself was undamaged. No dents, dings, or scratches on the wood.Build was relatively easy compared to the dresser/changing table, but as others have remarked the instructions are nothing to write home about. The good news is that there are really only a handful of pieces and they make logical sense. Total build time for this was around 1 hour with one person. I can't speak to durability yet, since the kid isn't born but it appears to be well built. The grey looks to be solidly painted on, so maybe some of the quality issues others have remarked on have been repaired. I wasn't gentle with it while putting it together and still have no dents or scrapes. I'm sure a little kid can find a way though. All in all I have a really positive impression of this crib. Would definitely buy again if I had to. Read more

My husband built the crib for our grandchild and the crib is very nice in oak. However, there was no Toddler Bed Conversion Kit included. We aren't sending the crib back because it took some time for my husband to assemble. The assembly instructions from DaVinci that come with the crib say "Toddler Bed Conversion Kit, 3099, sold separately." So, Amazon got it wrong in the description saying that it the conversion kit is included because the manufacturer obviously never intended to include it. Read more

Warning** Not safe at all!!! Don’t waste your money on this product... it easily scratches and worst thing the springs from the underneath mattress support easily snaps off while your baby is in it.. the whole front side came down. I was soo shocked that they would have something like this for a baby! I tried to contact the manufacturer and wasn’t able to help me at all! extremely disappointed!! Read more

worst piece of garbage ever made. talk about the worst assembly process. attaching most of the pieces together requires a "K" screw with a bolt that is almost impossible to line up for the screw to go into. two of us gave up after 2 hours of trying. spend a bit more and buy something assembled or more easily assemble-able. First of all really disappointed it doesn't come with the toddler rail. I read several reviews stating it was included but it wasn't.Another issue was the assembly. It is simple once you figure it out but don't expect to know there are 3 lengths of screws that will keep you wondering why it doesn't screw. Also some screw holes are in strange places, quite unaccesible the more it comes together. Read more

I really like the crib! It looks sturdy and elegant. It is also easy to assembly and nice colored. However, though the package is full and careful, there are still some defects, and mine are just on the front and center of the crib. They do not effect daily usage, so I decided to keep it. But I must say there are some regrets as a gift for my unborn baby, and wish you could check more carefully for other customers. Read more
