We have been using coconut oil in my son’s hair. He’s half Chinese and half Black. His hair is interestingly textured. It is not very thick and each strand is smooth like Asian hair, but curls in all directions. It is working out what it wants to be hah. I thought “why spend $20 since coconut oil is working alright?” But the other reviews for mixed kids convinced me to give it a try. This stuff is amazing! It doesn’t look greasy, it keeps his curls together all day—even in the back where it gets fuzzy rubbing on his car seat/crib. It doesn’t get our clothes oily when we hold him. The first thing I noticed when I opened this product is that the fragrance is strong and chemical. I don’t know how organic or gentle the produce is with such a noxious scent. The smell is overwhelming for me so definitely wasn’t needed in a baby product. Regardless, I use the product very sparingly and it’s more tolerable. However, I noticed what others have mentioned - her hair looks great initially and her curls are shiny and defined, but wherever her head rubs against fabric, becomes super frizzy and tangled - more than if i hadn’t used any product at all. This has been great for my 15 month old daughter’s (3c) hair. I didn’t want to use a lot of chemicals on her hair, so had been spraying it with water and applying jojoba oil everyday. I noticed that her hair was feeling drier and less soft, I bought this. It does a great job of keeping her hair soft and her curls defined. When I use it, her hair feels sufficiently moisturized for a couple of days, so I use it maybe twice a week. The Patty Cake rinse out conditioner is great as well. I deducted a star for the scent. It smells good to me, but I don’t like strong scents, especially in my baby products. Read more

My daughter's hair kind of chooses what days it wants to curl and how much it'll curl. Sometimes half of her hair will be straight and half will curl. But I put this in her hair and it curls all of her hair evenly. I'll put some in my hand and kind of pluck pieces of her hair to get it to curl. I'd definitely buy it again! Read more

My daughter is African American and Latina mixed with beautiful corkscrew curls. Her hair would have beautiful ringlets after I washed her hair but as the day went on it would frizz and lose all its definition! I found products that helped define and maintain her curls but they were just too thick or oily for her baby hair and smelled too strong. What I love about this product is there is no evidence there is any product other than the smell which is ok. Not crazy about it but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I love everything about this product. My daughter is 1/4 black, 3/4 white and has a head full of beautiful locks. This provides the perfect amount of bounce and moisture to otherwise dry and fluffy hair (though still beautiful). I was also thrilled that it doesn’t leave any oily residue.After bath time, I brush her hair, then add a quarter size amount of this cream then scrunch her hair and let it air dry. If she wakes up with fluffy hair, all I have to do is spray it with some water and add a quarter size amount of this again. Read more

Very pleased with this product! My baby is mixed, I am white and my husband is African American and white. Her hair texture is soft, but very curly. When left to dry naturally, it’s normally very fluffy. This product did an excellent job of defining her curls without weighing her hair down. It smells nice, too! Read more

This doesn't work as good as baby oil gel! I have mixed babies so I bought this for my sons curls it helps curl the hair without the greasy or gel feel but where he rubs his head on beds or car seat it gets really dry like frizzier than normal. When I just use the baby oil gel it works as good as long as you don't put so much it's greasy. But doesn't get super dry where he rubs his head. Read more
