I fill this with the hottest water I can get and soak my brush while wetting my face and prepping for the shave. Even after 60-90 seconds the scalding hot water has barely made any temperature change to the outside of the bowl. The water is probably 150 degrees, while the outside layer is maybe 90 degrees, and doesn't seem to get anywhere near uncomfortable. Our water is much hotter than most water heaters, so if it works well for me, it should work well for anybody.When I'm done shaving I rinse the bowl clean then wipe it dry to avoid any water spots or potential blemish spots. It's big enough to fit a cake, and lather without splashing.It does not, however hold heat very well. I filled it with scalding water, changed the water while showering, and it still didn't hold heat long enough for half a shave. Read more

It obviously works, though I usually dont hold it; it sits on the bathroom counter. Its quite light, so it naturally moves around when soaping up my brush. I wish it were heavier! Also, it has no lid, so doesn't quite work well for travel. Read more

I had high hopes based on the many favorable reviews that this would be my solution to warm lather wet shaving. I pre-warmed the bowl before I showered, created a lather and all seemed right with the world. That is until I started to lather up. It was barely warm and by the middle of my shaves the lather was actually cold. I’m again on the hunt and will likely spring for a proper scuttle. Read more

While this is my first go at wet shaving and the need associated accouterments, I find that this bowl fits well in my medium/large hands. As for the double insulation retaining heat, well, no so much, as other reviewers have stated. I would most likely buy a ceramic bowl next time. Read more

I love the feel of this bowl, its just deep enough to get a really good lather. It can also be warmed up to heat the lather and keep it nice and warm. I use a coffee mug warmer with adjustable temp control and it only take 15-20 min's to get it where I like. Read more
